“Take your breath away”

This was truly a wonderful experience. The cable car trip is so AMAZING. The scenneny is breathtaking and just when you think you have climbed as high as the car will go , it goes up at a very steep angle to reach the other side. The Temple area is beautiful with many nice souvenir stalls along the stepped foothpath. The only disappointment was that non- Hindus are not allowed into the Temple, I found this to be highly discriminatory and quite insulting especially as I was on holidays with my Nepalese friends who were all allowed in. It felt like I had a contagious disease. Despite this, I nontheless feel that this is still a trip worth taking.

“A must..do not miss.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

If you are travelling in Nepal, ride in Manokamna cable car and white water rafting are highly recommended. On way from Kathmandu to pokhra, you can stop by and enjoy 24-26 kms of white water rafting, with a mid rafting, hot and steamy lunch break on the banks of river. Almost where the rafting ends is the Manokamna. During season there is long queue of devotees. If you are organising tour through a tour operator, then you can ask him to buy tickets in advance, as they are valid for seven days. This place is almost midway from kathmandu to pokhra (21/2 hrs from Kathmandu and about 2 hrs from Pokhra)
If you are adventure lover, these are the only reasons why you can chose to travel from Kathmandu to Pokhra by road - the cable and the rafting. Other wise prefer to travel by domestic flights of Nepal. But BEWARE- chose a proper airlines for this, if you dont want to fear the flight.
This spectacular cable, rises high beyond imagination from 258 m to 1302 m. As we reached half way, i thought that the journey has come to an end, as the car approximated a flat area. but to my surprise, it started ascending again. the sizzling river, where rafting is done, becomes a tiny thing from that altitude.
If you are a devotee, then you still need to ascend stairs after spectacular journey of cable car ends. We travelled in late june and place was at times covered with clouds and at times very humid. So please select a proper time.
Well maintained, this is one of the must dos in Nepal. It is closed for lunch 12 noon to 1.30 pm

“Amazing, worth a stop off”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2012

We took the cable car ride in early November, as we were travelling in a private car we hadnt to endure the queues to get on. In the day in question we were the only tourist to have taken it, its well worth a stop off if your travelling to Kathmandu. The views are second to none and the village at the top is a suprise

“Best Cable car to visit Wish Full filling Goddess Manakamana”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2011

Visit to Manakamana in a cable car is a very good experience. A cable car can accomodate six pax at a time. It takes about 15 mins to reach the temple from bottom station but takes only 10 mins to come down. Going higher and watching the spectacular surrounding landscapes from there is very exciting. The temple is always full of devotees but when we went there it was some ocassion so the queue was almost 1.5 km at the bottom station and not less than 5oo m at the temple premisses. The goddess Manakamana is believed to be wish fulfilling goddess. She is also a patron goddess of former Royal family (shah kings).
When we came down from nthe temple, it was sunny day there but as our cable car came down there ws a thick fog all around, to experience something like this was very unique experience.
