Rockliffe Hall
Certificate of Excellence

Fantastic experience in wonderful setting, the suite was enormous, services was first class. The Golf course was a great lay out and very testing. The staff throughout the facility were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The food was of exceptional quality but in some cases there could have been more of it.

Room Tip: Suites in the Old Hall are excellent

I have only visited Rockliffe Hall the once and i was amazed by it. We booked it quite far in advance so there was quite a build up to it, we could have been easily disappointed but it was more than we ever expected.
On arrival the staff couldn't have been any faster getting to the car and helping us with our bags and pointing us to the right direction to check in. Check in very stress free no problems the staff were very friendly, the member of staff taking us to the room was very informative about the hotel telling us where everything was (even given us a little quiz).
When entering the room i had to hide my excitement ... the bed was HUGE the tv was HUGE the shower was HUGE the dressing area was HUGE... a complete girly dream finding a dressing table with a mirror from all angles and a spot light (a boyfriend free zone, he can enjoy the big t.v).
We decided to go to the clubhouse for dinner, when the concierge noticed my heels to save me walking he insisted on calling us a car.... a rolls royce... once the shock subsided and my boyfriend warned me not to get false tan on the cream seats we arrived at the clubhouse... amazing views amazing staff amazing food.
The spa was also lovely very clean great service, plenty of facilities it never feels crowded very relaxing the pool is massive and the hydro pool is incredible. Nothing to complain about at all...
As much as it was a short stay the hotel still amazes me and i try and go back whenever i can, it is a slightly hefty price tag so its not as often as i would like it to be ... we are due there soon for massages it cant come fast enough :)

Room Tip: I Wouldn't worry they all seem fab

I have stayed here on more than 6 occasions. Generally I would have given it 5* however this was a disappointing visit.
We'll start with the golf. Excellent service down there, the usual top quality from the pro shop.
We had lunch in the Brasserie before golf, very nice blt in ciabatta. Service excellent.
Our wives had lunch a bit later and have a very average salad and soup.
We arrived for our meal in the evening to the slight disappointment that the menu for lunch was the same for our evening meal. The wives had limited options and my friend and I went for steak after struggling to choose anything else. Starters were luke warm and average taste. Main courses arrived, steaks were barely warm yet the plates were too hot to touch. "Side dishes" weren't sides, they were already served 'plated up'. The chicken was dry and had no sauce or gravy, the fish was also dry and tasteless, vegetables bland.
We were sure the chef hadn't turned up and they were just trying to muddle through.
The evening was saved by Ross who did everything he could to make amends for my wife and then produced a great desert platter. I wouldn't have been surprised if he cooked it himself.
Rockliffe Hall really needs to rethink its offering on a Sunday night. The food and selection has to be 5* regardless of where you are in the resort and the Brasserie food quality and selection would struggle to get 3*.
Overall a disappointing stay. They will get another chance but only 1.

Had a fabulous day out here at Rockliffe Hall watching the English Senior European Open golf championship. A warm welcome from the minute you enter the grounds, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The golf course was breathtaking as we'll as the hotel, which was stunning. Well done Rockliffe Hall for putting on a great tournament , hope to see it here next year.

We attended my nephews wedding at the Rockliffe Hotel and had an amazing time.
From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the hotel and the surounding gardens.
we were met with a choice of drinks and nibbles in the reception area which gave guests a chance to mingle whilst we listened to a lady playing the piano.
The adjacent bar was quick and efficient to serve our drinks and the staff friendly,
When it was time to go to the wedding breakfast we all gathered at the bottom of an outside staircase which made for a great photograph, we then filed into the reception area past the bride and groom.
The meal was delicous all courses served at the right temperature set out beautifully in a well decorated room.
The staff made sure there was still and sparkling water on every table and an ambundance of wine.
The evening reception was just as pleasing hot roast sandwhiches with pasta, potatoes and salad again no reason for complaint.
Definatley a lovely hotel for a wedding reception

What a fabulous hotel.
We just stayed 1night with dinner and breakfast and played a round of golf.
Think we chose a good day to play golf as the Seniors Open had just been played!
All the staff were so helpful and all were very proud to work at the hotel and golf club which is really unusual these days and it showed in the service which was excellent.
The rooms were absolutely gorgeous.
Food was excellent.
We would certainly recommend going to our friends and anyone else.
We can say it was the best hotel we have stayed in throughout this country.

Room Tip: Think all are great!
