The experience with Amandari did not start well as we had to wait for our car one hour at the airport. However, because of that, we got a double upgrade to a pool villa, from our Village suite, a complimentary massage and dinner. It was therefore worth the wait. This shows you how much effort the staff puts in the guests being happy.

The food was very nice, much better than Como Shambala for instance and you have a wide selection that 3 days did not cover for us to taste.

The spa is great, we had massage and facial, Suwisi was amazing, if you can I would choose her!

The resort:you get the feeling of being secluded from everything in your hotel and in your villa, the private pool is stunning, the beds are ultra comfortable, rooms are massive, you get a beautiful view of the jungles from the villa we stayed. The Viceroy hotel view was nicer I believe as it was more cliffy. We went to Viceroy for lunch (see our review). We would not mind next time staying at the Viceroy too.

We felt from the Aman experiences we had that the resorts try to keep the traditional feeling to them. So if you are looking for that, Amandari is the right place for you.

There are a lot of activities you can do in the resort and outside the resort: tennis, gym which is bigger than any other Aman we have been in Indonesia (Amankila and Amanjiwo).

If I had to rate the Aman that we have been to so far in order of general preference I would put 1- Amanpulo (Philippines) 2- Amandari 3- Amankila and 4 -Amanjiwo.

Outside activities that we did: elephant ride, very nice but 30min is enough
-rafting, fun and good exercise... beautiful to see the jungle from down there, but beware of the steps to go down to the river.
-dinner at Mozaic, worth the experience for the atmosphere
- monkey forest, ok if you like monkeys why not they climb on you and eat banana on your head
- we went to see the healer of eat pray love, its ok, just worth going to take a picture of him otherwise ask your guide for a better healer/fortune teller
- cycling through the villages/ rice fields / eat pray love path, definitely worth it
- elephant cave, OK not great
- center of Ubud was OK, not a lot of nice shopping. Very touristy...

We are ending our honeymoon here and have had everything organised by Remote Lands. We usually organise our trips ourselves but this time we thought we could not manage wedding and honeymoon at the same time and to be honest we do not regret it. The guide they provided us here in Ubud was not great but apart from that the organisation was faultless and you get a lot of complimentary things (massages/dinner...). You also feel like you have a contact in Indonesia, wherever you go, someone to speak to in case you need anything from someone local (we asked to bring wine to the airport for instance and they organised it instantly). If you are interested, ask for Catherine.

Didn't stay here this visit due to time constraints - had only 2 nights in Bali and arrival time was past 11pm...nevertheless, made it a point to visit this beautiful resort and to have a meal there at least. Mum told the guide we definitely want to visit Amandari during our few hours in Ubud...the manager and staff were all very friendly, showing us around the hotel...the shop at the resort has the best shopping for quality souvenirs, we spent more than an hour in the shop alone...Loved the food at the restaurant - best meal we had in Bali - the Mee Goreng and Laksa rocks!!! Will love to come back!

We had only two days this time for the Ubud area. And therefor we got the car to bring us early morning to the Amandari. We were lucky to have the same room as in earlier visits. A view on a rice field with people working on it.
We felt as of we had not been away. This resort is still in top condition. The location with its view is magnificent. The most beautiful pool. Food is great at the restaurant. The staff is Amanlike, attentive, easy, funny and relaxed.
There are resorts that try to copy Amandari, but if you want the real Amanfeeling don't even try elsewhere.
We will be back ASAP.

Room Tip: View on the rice fields or the valley.

I love this property. From the authentic Balinese stoned village look to the modern touches that accompany it. This is an intimate resort that caters to all your senses. It rests on rice fields on one side and the Ayung river on the other. There is nothing not to like. With the Aman service on one hand and a magnificent property to go with it, this is a place I can always come back to.

We stayed at the Amandari for 3 nights in December 2012 just before boarding a 32 day cruise. The first morning our camera fell off a table and the lens was smashed. My husband went immediately to the front desk and in no time the staff had located a camera shop in Denpasar and we had a car and driver tot take us in to Denpasar which is about an hour away. The driver found the shop, went with us, translated for us and we left with another lens, exactly like the one we broke. There were 3 activities included in our stay and we chose a couples massage, a cooking school and a pre breakfast hike and breakfast. The massage was good and fun, but the cooking school was out of this world! I thought we would be with others, but no, it was just my husband and I. We were taken early in the morning to a local market where we purchased items for the lunch we were to make. Then we went to the sous chef's outdoor kitchen at his home where we worked all morning under his tutelage. The meal we produced was delicious and complex. Before eating the meal, we were dressed in ritual sarongs and took a blessing to the family's shrine. That evening the hotel arranged for us to have a private concert of Balinese children performing some dances, which was beautiful and so touching. The children were adorned in traditional costumes and were incredibly cute. Early the next morning we were taken on a jungle hike from the resort and ended up high above a valley where we were treated to a sumptuous breakfast out on a platform above a rushing river. The accommodation itself was in a walled free standing thatched roof cottage, completely separate and private with stunning views and private outdoor tub and another area completely private overlooking the view. At the end of our there nights, we were driven to our cruise ship in Benoa and could hardly believe what a fantastic experience Amandari was. Every staff member was attentive, friendly, smiling and a joy. We highly recommend a stay at Amadari.
