We stayed here for 3 nights during the Christmas holiday break and were Aman "virgins" and are now converted to Aman junkie status.

This was a beautiful experience. The staff are just perfect - welcoming and friendly. The GM is charming and on top of everything that is going on - the perfect host.

We stayed in a pool suite and the decor is understated and relaxing. The pool was just the right size and the views sublime. My only small suggestion for improvement would be to have another sofa/day bed in the room. There was only one rattan chair and ottoman.

The Amandari team are also supporting a local orphanage for disabled children who treated the guests to a performance of traditional Balinese dance on Christmas night which was just delightful.

I am looking forward to a future visit

We stayed in Amandari for 4 days wiht our 2.5 year old son. I really like the wooden Balinese style decor in the villas. The service is really amazing wiht staff/guess ratio probably close to 1:1.
The hotel is about 10 min drive from Ubbud with free shuttle provided at any time. I also recommend trecking in rice field and water rafting.
The only downside is the lack of kids activities for very small kids (no kids pool). There is a library wiht some toys though and there is also 4 hour per day free childcare provided by the hotel. There are activitees organised more suited for 5 years + kids.

my wife and 2 year ld stayed here for a couple of nights. from the moment we arrived the staff made us feel so welcome. Our villa was a one bedroom with the actual bedroom upstairs. This villa had both a luxurious and a traditional feel to it. The twin queen sized day beds in the living area, along with our own private fish pond ( the olympic pool of fish ponds!) were just great for lying around and doing very little. Watching people go about there field work on the terraces kept our sun fascinated. The afternoon traditional dance lessons that coincided with afternoon tea were great as well. It was probably on the second evening that we actually noticed there was no television, it's just not really needed (although I assume that should you ask, one would be provided in a heart beat). The outdoor bathtub was also a great treat! The staff here were INCREDIBLE! they were so kind and friendly, and seemed to be so happy to entertain our son. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a truly relaxing, secluded stay.

This continues to be a lovely hotel. Our pool suite was really lovely, with inspiring views of the valley opposite. The spa was excellent, and the food good, and they are only too-pleased to meet your wishes from the kitchen. All the staff are involved with you in a personal and friendly way. We were fortunate in that our driver / guide, named Arsana, was exceptional in his friendly knowledge and contacts within the village which almost adjoins the hotel. We went with him to a bloody cockfight, walks in the local paddyfields, and various temple ceremonies where the villages meet each other. Also, going to the temple, we witnessed almost the whole village in procession, followed by the Barong dance and Kris (knife) ceremonies due to a rare conjunction of calenders and moon. Where else could one be so involved? Well done Aman. As noted by a previous reviewer, the manager was noticeably absent or non-involved, which is so unlike our Amanajunkie other experiences. Go and enjoy the peace and calm whilst you can -this is almost unique.

Room Tip: If on honeymoon, go for a pool suite for skinny-dipping!

We cannot say enough about our experience in Amandari. We returned - after many years - to celebrate our anniversary. "Nothing has changed" - as juvenile as that may sound. The property itself is sublime - private, quiet, pristine, an oasis of calm and peace. Staff are incredible, the entire ambience is one of beauty and serenity. We enjoyed wonderful meals, and truly unmatched hospitality. Took several day trips/treks, under the superb oversight of our guide (Jaya) -- already dreaming of a return...

Room Tip: Fair warning: roosters in Kedetewan begin crowing well before dawn. If you are a light sleeper, pr...

Traditionally great Aman service and location, however not sure whether this respesents good value for money. The range of activities on offer is good, the spa is excellent and the morning yoga classes are a welcome bonus. Ubud itself is nothing special though, and the reason for the hype surrounding it as a 'must-see' destination is unclear to me. Something needs to be done about the food though - having arrived to Amandari as a final stop in an Aman-centric tour of Indonesia, and having got used to excellent food throughout, we were unpleasantly surprised by how bland and mediocre the restaurant food there was... Hope the management would read that and make some changes to asap, since food is such a central part of the overall experience! Very good on most other counts though.

Room Tip: aim to get one of the valley-view rooms for the spectacular view
