The Donjon used to be one of our favourites (at those prices and standards) as we live only 15k away and have patronised the place many times. However, it has changed hands and the service on our previous visit was VERY poor and the food expensive and ill prepared and presented. My wife and I were very sorry to loose such a pleasent restaurant.
In the summer my wife went into hospital and so, tired of cooking for myself, I set out on a gloriously hot, sunny day to anothe favourite Sunday lunch restaurant. However, it was closed and so I decided to give the Donjon another try. To my pleasent suprise tables were set out in the courtyard and I secured the remaining small table which meant I could have my dog next to me (a water bowl was supplied). Unfortunately a nearbye , large table was occupied by 9 or 10 members of an English family and one American who seemed to think they owned the world and carried out a continous conversation with plumbs in their mouths at high volume. By the end of my lunch I could have suggested a more appropriate location for the plumbs!
The service had improved but the food was still mediocre and not sufficiently hot for me even though I recognise that many French do not expect piping hot food.
I left disappointed once again even if my dog enjoyed his bread and water!
