we visited twice during our week in Mulranny, lunch on both occasions; 3 generations of the family all eating different dishes ranging from the steak meal to a plate of chips. Mr Nevin chatted to us both times and even remembered where we had sat on our first visit! The waiting staff are all friendly and polite and the food delicious. The atmosphere on the first afternoon (Saturday after Christmas) was buzzing and we were treated to 2 lads sitting at the bar playing reels, with an open fire and such good food - just what you would expect from a friendly Irish pub.
Wish we lived closer, we would visit all the time!

Nevins Newfield Inn is located a short distance from the Mayo greenway. A reclaimed cycle path that runs along the disused Westport to Achill sound railway line. This is a family run gastro pub which serves up a selection of food in a very professional manner. There is quite a bit of plamasary which means you will be likely greeted by John Nevin the owner, and the staff will be friendly and helpful to the point that they may appear to be putting it on. Even though I believe they are genuine. The prices are slightly more expensive than comparable gastro pubs in Westport and Castlebar, but you are that bit further off the beaten track. Its a good idea to pre book at the weekends. I ate the lemon sole and it was cooked to perfection.

Yet another fabulous meal in Nevins. Oysters succulent, perfect with glass of dry white wine or Guinness!! Will pop in for this even when on the diet in New Year!!!

Fish pie full of prawns, salmon & white fish with a delicious sauce. Baked Salmon fillet with Hollandaise sauce, perfectly cooked, tasty veg.

Staff as always just great! Happy New Year to all at Nevins.

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was beautiful, I had a filsh platter and got at least six different types of fish and two sauces, and it was out of this world. The service was second to none and the waitress was pleasant and helpful. The owner himself was there and went around on each table making sure everybody was alright and he made ererybody feel very welcome. As I havn't been here recently he shook my hand and welcomed me. Only down side there was a group of lads that were very loud, but they did not stay long.

Stopped of to have lunch on the way to Achill - well worth the stop! Excellent food, very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff and a very pleasant interior. We were very please with our meal, didn't have time to wait, very generous portions and a very reasonable price. Was temted to stay longer and have another meal !! A very varied menu on offer and staff were very willing to help, advise and ensure we had a really good experience. Will definitely be stopping off here again.
