Our only bad experience in a week of Ireland travels was here. We (4 middle aged Americans) were looking for a restaurant as we were returning to Galway after touring the beautiful desolate Connemara region.
The hotel appeared to have a lovely dining room and we hoped to get dinner there. The doors to the dining room were locked and there were no signs posting the hours (it was around 5pm) So we meandered through the lobby. No one was there to greet us. We saw there was a bar but we wanted food not drink. We saw a small lounge where a few people were eating, but there was a screaming child so we decided to leave. We used the restroom then went out side to look around. We were looking in various directions, trying to see what other eateries might be around. Then an employee of the Inn came out and chastised us for using the restroom and not buying any food there.

A group of 35 of us, on our annual gym club outing, stopped at the Anglers Rest for breakfast prior to climbing Croagh Patrick. We had called the manager a few days previous to let him know that we would be stopping. I have to commend the manager and staff for looking after us so well. We were seated in the bar with all the tables set on our arrival. Our orders were taken immediately by some extremely nice and efficient waitresses. Our breakfast came out in no time at all so we were on our merry way with little delay. Everyones tastes were catered for. Compliments to the chef. We were given as much tea/coffee and toast (loved the home made brown bread too) as we could possibly manage to eat. We all let satisfied and fired up for our climb. I'd recommend the Anglers Rest to anyone passing by. Excellent value for money and no extra charges for the trimmings which is very important these days. I will certainly be calling again.

Stayed here in May/June 2008 and again in 2010. Great Hotel. Found the Staff & Community to be extremely welcoming. That was appreciated as on both occassions I/we visited the area to find our roots. As it turns out, some of my Aunts had worked there, which was a wonderful surprise. The food and bar are awsome. Plan another trip May/June 2013 and will be back at Anglers Rest.

Stayed here over the weekend, usually not the kind of hotel I'd go for but was attending a 21st there so was ideal to stay over. Had some food in the bar before checking in, absolutely divine. The food was great and so was the service, looked after our every need. The room was also nice and clean. You got your standard TV in the room, towels, shower/bath etc. Although still relatively comfortable. Only minor detail was they didn't have conditioner in the shower only shampoo, but that would be the extent of the problems. Overall a real enjoyable stay.

Its not big, it isn't fancy, it is what you hope to find in a peaceful market town such as Headford.

The rooms are decently sized, well furnished and clean (maybe to a decent rather than outstanding standard, but heck, you are in the country). The small reception, lobby area and dining room are pleasantly decorated in a tasteful, understated retro style.

Headford is a blessedly quiet town and this hotel is civilised - seems not to "do weddings", so despite staying a Friday and Saturday night, there was no audible signs of late night revelry to disturb a decent night's sleep.

As in most cases, the people make the difference and all the staff encountered on our short family trip were friendly & welcoming.

Breakfast each morning was - the usual "full Irish" but very well done - good quality ingredients, freshly prepared and small variations accommodated. I favoured the tea over the coffee, but then the same is true of most hotels.

This is a small but homely welcoming hotel, near the Corrib in County Galway. The food is excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. It has clean comfortable rooms. We had occasion to visit as a group, following a wedding. Tea and sandwitches were served for approx. 150 people. It was all good quality and served efficiently. Celiac requirements were met without any difficulty. I would be very happy to recommend this hotel to family and friends, for business or holiday stays.
