We stayed in the one of the lovely B&B rooms Suz and Pete have at the Barns, along with the Gite. They couldn't do enough for us. The accommodation and food were fabulous; we ate lovely evening meals with our hosts two of the three nights we stayed and the breakfasts were fab too. We were made to feel like part of the family. And the hot tub....stunning. We had come to the Pyrenees for me to cycle the Col du Tourmalet so the secure bike storage and mini workshop were a real bonus. What really made it for us was after we discovered an irreparable problem with my bike. Pete and Suz came to the rescue, not only lending me a spare bike wheel, but driving me over to the HQ of allons-y-pyrenees.com to use some specialist tools. This made our holiday when the problem could have easily spoiled it. Huge thanks to Pete and Suz and Chris at allons-y-pyrenees for all their help. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Richard - thank you for such a great review. Pete and I really enjoyed yours and Lisa's company and so glad that your bike was sorted so you could ride Tourmalet .... loved your Tourmalet T-shirt - worth climbing that hill for! Hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Barns dans les Pyrénées at some point in the future.

Suzi is an incredible hostess, so kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is varied and delicious and the general atmosphere is just so lovely. The towns around the Barns are quaint, so be sure to do whatever you want before 8p. There's plenty of hiking, biking, etc. -- perfect for the outdoor lover. I can't stress enough how wonderful Suzi is, it wouldn't have been the same without her. I can't wait to return.

Just stayed in the Gite at the Barns Dans Les Pyrenees for 12 days. What a great stay we had. We stayed in the Gite and what excellent accommodation large double bedroom, spacious kiten and lounge plus an excellent shower/bathrrom. I went to the Pyrenees to cycle in the mountains and whilst we were a little distance from the mountains it was no problem hitting all of the big climbs such as Col d'Aspin, Col de Tourmalet, Hautacam and Col d'Aubsique; my legs will never be the same again!! What I also found good was the roads around Tournay were great for those days when you needed a rest from the hills. We also went walking in Garvanie which was a fatastic day out. When not out and about we stayed at the Barns and just soaked up the views and amazing sunsets from our patio.

Must also mention Suz and Pete who were fabulous host. They helped us settle in, gave us great advice and the food in the evenings was just fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The reviews below are all true of what you can expect.

In fact it was that good we have already booked another trip for next year to cycle some more of te great climbs in the area.

Room Tip: The Gite was great as the patio was private with excellent views. However, we also looked at the rooms and I would say that you cannot go wrong with whatever you pick.

Pete - thank you for taking time to write a review for us - we appreciate your kind and very positive comments.

Glad you loved the cycling here, and as you found out .... there are plenty of challenging cols to tackle or more gentle local rides ... which I know Lynda really enjoyed - but even good local hills for her to put under her belt .... "The Col Tournay"!

We look forward to you returning next year perhaps for The Tour week!

We spent a week at The Barns and used this as a base for walking in the Pyrenees. It was a little further from the mountains that we'd have liked, but this was a small price to pay for the excellent accommodation and warmth and generosity of the hosts.
From the gite there is a large, covered dining and relaxing area that is extremely private - with a view of the mountains and sunsets.

What a fabulous place! The location is beautiful, with views of the Pyrenees, but it is the hosts, Suz and Pete, who make this place extra special!
We recently stayed in the gite for a week, and on our return home immediately booked again for our next trip ( and we don't usually go to the same place twice!). Over the years we've stayed at many self catering places in France, but this is truly the best we've found. The gite itself is immaculately clean, and just the right combination of rustic building yet modern interior. Supplies in the fridge on arrival were very welcome, as was the glass of fizz & some snacks with the family. The morning bread delivery added to the relaxing time, as did Suz's fabulous cooking! Everything about the place is very well maintained, and Suz and Pete obviously work very hard to keep up the high standards.
My only worry is that they won't be able to fit us in for a third visit, as I'm sure every visitor will want to return!
Best wishes to you, Suz & Pete, and we look forward to our return!
