What an amazing part of Italy, stunning scenery set in the mountains with no neighbours ! Beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Went for 50th birthday getaway and definitely away from busy noisy tourist traps ! Perfect location for us off the beaten track but not isolated - in reach of many towns and villages. We visited Lucca, Pisa, Florence (by train from Lucca - long day but very worthwhile) and Siena - stunning ! Also Barga, San Gimignano, Castelnuevo, Grotto del Vento and Fort at Verrucole - so many places and only 1 week to do it ! The owner Daniele was brilliant he managed to communicate with us despite our non existent italian ! Unfortunately the weather made it impossible for us to use the pool - too cold but would be perfect if temperatures were higher. He has created a beautiful haven at one with nature - pictures do not show quite how pristine and beautiful Il Paradiso is ! The cottage is equipped with every amenity required for a romantic getaway in the mountains and woods of Tuscany ! Daniele is a very talented man - he has created an amazing property to be extremely proud of - we could not fault it ! He sorted out WIFI, heating by woodchip fire - gorgeous - he recommended a lovely little pizzeria in next village - 15 mins by car it does take away too ! - best food and very reasonably priced - many thanks for everything. Would love to return and totally recommend this rental - we loved our stay in this gorgeous part of Italy.
This was our first stay and we cannot wait to return. We loved the peace and quiet, the views, the mountain air, the stars and the fireflies, the hare, the wild strawberries and catching up on sleep. We loved being able to walk miles through the woods and come back to the pool and the beautifully equipped and maintained house. Thank you Daniele for sharing your lovely home and helping us* and thank you Lorraine for brilliant organisation. Next time we will come for longer and do some more exploring. We will definitely go back to Castiglione di Garfagnana and have another anti pasta platter at Osteria Leonie.
* We had a puncture and Daniele very, very kindly sorted it all out for us.
