Upon entering the george inn it is like stepping back in time as one drives through the entrance which always conjures up castles in my mind. The courtyard is magnificent.
This feeling is not lost when entering the bar area which has a rustic feel to it.
There is wide range of ales, ciders, wines and spirits on offer.I particuarly like the real ales and continental lagers and ciders; truly a taste sensation.
The fact that the food is even better than teh drink says it all. The fish and steaks are mouth wateringly memorable combined iwth home made chunky chips like no other i have ever tried.
My wife loves the restaurant and says it is 'shabby chic' which is fine with me as we both love going there.
Gordon is an amiable and intelligent host and all the staff are in keeping with the theme; nothing seems to be too much trouble.
This is not an Inn where one goes to buy sausages and chips for £5, it is a quality experience offering good value given the excellence of the offering.
Families and small children are very welcome at the george.
The George inn is the finest in Somerset, do yourself a favour and give it a try.
