This is a really fascinating Kasbah with a rich and interesting history. Although much of it is in ruins the parts that have been preserved are well worth the journey. What really made this visit was the excellent tour given by the Kasbah's guide Rashid. He is such a gracious and hospitable man and was so interesting. Not only did he tell us a great deal about the Kasbah but we also learnt so much from him about the region and life both in the High Atlas and the desert. The road from the Tizzi n'Tikka pass is very poor but we managed it in our Renault Kangoo. If you are planning to continue on to Ait Benhaddou then be mindful that the road continues to be very poor for a further 11km until you reach the village of Anguelz. However it's worth persisting with because after that it improves dramatically and is a very good road from there all the way to Ait Benhaddou and beyond.
