Howard and his team do a great job at welcoming you to their camp. The accommodation is basic but very comfortable and well kept. The restaurant is excellent and a great place to relax and there's loads of opportunity for activities and exploring. I'd thoroughly recommend a couple of days here.

Tampat Do Aman is incredible. It was such a different experience. The jungle shack we slept in was really brilliant. It was like tenting in the jungle. It felt very relaxing, peaceful and exotic. The showers were brilliant- 4 private showers side by side that had one side open facing the jungle It was a brilliant experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We rented bicycles and peddled through the villages. We swam at the lovely sea and visited the Tip of Borneo. A lovely sight to see. The food was absolutely incredible at the Tampat Do Aman Jungle Camp. It was simply delicious. The breakfast, lunch and dinners were all amazing. I loved the fresh fruit shakes. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: You can choose from a private jungle shack or on the long house.

The place is divided into two sections one being restaurant on the beach and second one being accomodation in Borneo jungle nearby. The restaurant is really good, serving fresh and tasty food with some local specialties (Rungus cuisine). It also has nice beach, chillout space and some activities to offer. The accomodation is located lik 20 min on foot from the beach in the jungle. You can either have a longhouse stay or tiny cottage. Both are very basic and mostly directed at those who really want to get the real feel of tip of Borneo vintage accomodation. Staff is very helpful, atmosphere is by far one of the best we've encountered in Malaysia. Highly recommended if you're near tip of Borneo!

We were recommended to go here by a friend and Howard was very helpful - he comes into town each day to pick up people staying at the jungle camp and takes you there. We were under the impression that the accommodation was very close to the beach - actually it's a bit if a drive, but the beach itself is lovely.
The accommodation is basic - we stayed in the long house but I think the huts would be a better bet as the long house lacks privacy. There are basic compost toilets and open air showers which look out onto the jungle.
Here's the downside - the walk to the beach is really too far to do every day. Howard organizes pick ups from the accommodation to the beach and will take people back every 4 hours. But it is not always how you want to plan your day. At the accommodation there is filtered water and that's it. No fridge, drinks or even a kettle to make a coffee. So for a day or two fine- but you end up eating ever meal at his restaurant on the beach. The accommodation is very good value, the food and drinks all add up and that's where your money goes.
We hired the moped and spent the day out exploring which was fun. We enjoyed it - spent 3 nights there - plenty - and if we had been planning to stay longer we would have looked at renting a hut on the beach for a bit more freedom.

My gf and I travelled through Sabah for 8 days from Hong Kong in mid-May. We decided to stay at Tampat Do Aman on the recommendation of the Borneo Lonely Planet guide and I can't say we were disappointed. The sheer beauty of the northern Kudat is breath-taking.
I've often found that where beaches are concerned, the best bits of coastline are cornered off by the big resorts leaving those in mid-priced hotels with an inferior stretch and the locals with not much at all (this was the case in Lapu Lapu, Cebu, Philippines). /kudat is different.
The beach where the Tampat Do Aman has its restaurant, seating and activities area is a long stretch of yellow sand and beautiful clear water which you can walk the whole length of. There is definitely enough beach here for all of us. If you walk to 5-10 minutes in the opposite direction of the tip you will find locals fishing on the rocks and local children playing in the sea. The beach feels 100% natural as opposed to having been chopped up into segments.
The owner Howard is a Brit who has immersed himself in the local Rungus culture and even speaks the language of the locals. He is always happy to help and you get the impression that he really cares about his project and keeping things in line with the ethos of the camp.
This is the kind of place where you leave your mobile phone at home, forget about wifi and air conditioning and just enjoy nature and your surroundings. The jungle camp is about a 15-20min walk from the beach but tbh we never found that to be a problem as Howard makes regularly trips back and forth from the camp to the beach and the beach restaurant has everything you need. Which brings me on to the food. It's fantastic. Miles better than some of the food we ate at hotels charging 2 or 3 times the room rate here.
He has a kayaks, a scooter, good quality Giant mountain bikes (the brand Giant not for giants), a fishing rod, snorkel sets, all for hire.
Thanks Howard for making our stay one to remember.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the huts built by the local Rungus people in their traditional style. The huts a...

okey im a diffrent backpacker, sleep with local people before in local village and when i came hitch hiking true the top of borneo i was eating lunch at his restaurant. and full suprise they told me tat they have accommadtion. i when i payed i was expeted that the sleeping place would be at the same place as the reception but it isnt its far away on his privat property. Its interesting for people who never slept in wooden houses, its intresting for tourist who want to sleep somewere els then a fancy hotel. its very organised and save for the travelers who arent really travelers or for the one who are just starting traveling, you got picked up at backpackers everymorning so you can go to his restaurant, eat his breakfast and stay ther all day and do his thing in my opinion i like my freedom and i didnt get it over ther. the food is very western also they use local ingredients. the local people dont go over ther for a reason... If you are a couple i would reccomend to stay at the beach or in other accomadation. its good for solo travelers because its the cheapest. the earea around it is very nice but walk and discover it by yourself. For Family and a group af friends who dont live on budget i would recomend somewere els because the location of Jungle camp isnt that nice, its not really in the jungle btw the nebouhrs are farmers who growing banana plant and palm trees at the back are some rice feelds. for some people who never seen that before it can look like a Jungle. In the jungle camp many cats, ducks and a of course dog so dont leeve your food ther.
