“Glad to see this wonderful building open for business again”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Having been a resident of the Thornton area for over 20 years, we were glad to see the re-opening of this grand old hotel. The owners of the former "Beaches" in Barrie have taken over. We just went for lunch but we were not disappointed and the staff was very friendly and attentive.
The old pub at the back has not re-opened, yet anyway. It was a great place to go and have a drink while listening to local folk musicians jam.The sloping floor in there seems to be the issue. There is however a small bar area inside the front entrance that is nice to visit before your meal or even just go for a drink and some appetizers. Will definitely be going back for dinner.

“Great Atmosphere, Fantastic Food”
Reviewed March 29, 2011

The Village Inn, in Thornton, is one of the best "hidden gems" north of Toronto. We have been there on several occasions, including a few of their "Barrielicious" specials (always excellent, but reserve a table early!).

The servers, although not as experienced as you would find in the big city, also don't have the snooty attitude you would sometimes find at like-priced restaurants in Toronto either. Friendly and attentive, they seem like they may actually enjoy what they do for a living - how unique!

The food was always excellent, and at times even unique - the chef has come up with some great creations, and never disappoints. Try the specials - it's worth it!

We will be back again and again, whenever we have a special
