“Excellent in every way!”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

What a fantastic overnight stay we had. The hosts, Marie and Bernard, are more than welcoming. It's like going from home to home. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and spacious, very comfortable beds, and bathrooms amazing. Everything is very clean. Downstairs, there is a large open-plan communal living area, dining room, and full kitchen which we used in the evening to make ourselves dinner, and there's even a dishwasher so you don't have to wash up! The breakfast was unbelievable - homemade jams, the famous cheese tart (yummy!), and a huge traditional continental breakfast with cheeses, cold meats, fruits, breads, and little pastries. Endless amounts of juices, coffee, and hot chocolate. Marie even catered specially for our small children!

If you want a run of the mill, sterile environment you find in a large hotel and a big cooked breakfast, then this place is definitely not for you. If you want to experience a little French culture, great company, a chance to meet, eat, and socialize with whoever else may be staying at the same time, book up now!

This B&B is a great place from which to explore the Somme battlefields. Bernard and Marie make you very welcome in their beautifully appointed farmhouse. Bernard is very knowledgeable about the war history and it was wonderful to chat to him. Our visit in May was too brief and we will return for longer next time.

We are seasoned Sommites and have watched with enthusiasm as this wonderful purpose-built bed and breakfast has taken shape.

Marie and Bernard have created a wonderful balance of all that is best from home and holiday.
It is spacious and clean. Each suite has its own theme with little personal touches, there are plenty of fluffy towels in the bathrooms. Cake and coffee on arrival and freshly made cake in evidence on your return to the farm (they are very unobtrusive during the day).

Each morning the table resembles something from a Harry Potter filmset, it is laden with oven-warm homemade cheese tart, homemade jams and conserves, thick slices of cheese and ham, bread fresh from the boulangerie. Pots of hot tea and coffee .....

The fabulous kitchen is there for you to use and somehow it is a joy to cook in and even clean up (?!?!?!)

Room Tip: book early!!!!! If not booking as a party using whole place try for an upstairs suite - quieter. O...

Our 3rd stay at this venue, highly recommended, Bernard and Marie are wonderful especially her cheese tart and rhubarb and banana jam, aim to go again in October.

Great cycling area, Bernard should mention that he has a shed full of good quality cycles, we are experienced cyclists, but no need to take our own in future.

We stayed at Butterworth Farm as part of our tour around the WW1 Battlefields. The hosts, Bernard and Marie were very welcoming doing things beyond what was expected of them, such as droping us off at a restaurant and organising a taxi back for us. The property itself is welcoming with a big kitchen and dining room and relaxing louge area. The bedrooms were comfortable and homely whilst the bathrooms were clean and modern. The food provided was very good and we would highly recommend staying here. Jack, John and mark

Butterworth Farm has got to be one of the best B&Bs on the Somme. Bernard and Marie are very welcoming and nothing seems to be too much trouble. This is our second stay with them and can only say that it will not be the last. The accommodation is second to none and the bathrooms are modern and spotless. After a busy day we were content to make use of the superb kitchen facilities and chill out in the a large communal room with several glasses of wine.
