“Good value - great on site Starbucks - nice pool - lovely spa”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Generally good value - rooms nice size, although standard rooms have no toiletries and are generally a little tired. TVs were not properly tuned when we stayed, enquired at reception who said would be fixed the next day (by which time we would have checked out). Didn't matter for 1 night stay but not ideal. Starbucks was lovely, and nice terrace area (overlooking car park but fine). We had no queue at 8.45am for breakfast on a Saturday. Breakfast reasonable standard. Best aspects to the hotel are pool area and the spa. Also the nature reserve which is a short walk away is really lovely and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Try to get a room to the side of the hotel so you get a view of the distant countryside

We stayed for three nights over bank holiday and I would recommend this hotel as the facilities are good. It has a 25 metre swimming pool and very good gym and sauna for guests to use. If you like exploring the Attenborough nature reserve is just 10 minutes walk away - ideal for kids as the place is huge.
Hotel a bit pricey for drinks £3.75 for real ale, the food was typical pub food in the bar but was edible. Bit noisy in the bar one night as there was a birthday party and you could not escape this.
Overall a good clean hotel, staff fairly good.

My sister booked a nights stay for myself my mother and two boys aged 2 and 5. I have never stayed in a hotel with my boys so lets say i was very anxious as they are very lively. Check in was quick and efficient and the room was bigger than expected and clean. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The swimming pool was brilliant as were the changing rooms it all was very easy. We ate in the bar and restaurant which was excellent value for money and I didn't have to pay for my boys meals. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was relaxed and extremely child friendly. the staff were very accommodating and happy and the extra lengths they went to for me and my family will definitely book there again. if i have to say anything negative it would be difficult but it was very noisy outside when i was trying to get to sleep but that is not the hotels fault x excellent amazing and I am more than satisfied with my stay x thank you x

We stayed here for 3 nights for a break, overall it was a good stay however I would like to add the following comments on a few things.

Rooms were nice and clean, however as I have stated in a lot of the village hotels up and down the country these rooms may need a new and stylish decor, other than than beds were really comfy, but too many sheets.

Food was good breakfast was served till late and it was always nice and fresh

Customer service all staff were nice and friendly and very accommodating especially as we had a young baby.

Gym changing rooms, we got changed in the family changing rooms to go into the pool and it smelt really bad, the floor was really dirty and it needed desperate clean.

Overall good stay just mindful of cleanliness in some areas

Stayed here recently for the first time & was generally very impressed. Staff excellent, room clean & comfortable. Only complaint was the fruit juice glasses & cereal dishes were not as clean as they should have been at breakfast. However, the breakfast, included in the price, was very good with a wide choice. The price I paid for a nights stay, with breakfast included, compared very favourably with a Premier Inn. Would recommend this hotel to stay but the drinks at the bar are pricey, as with most hotels. There is a nice pub about a 3 minute walk away that serves good food & drink at lower prices.

I stayed here with a friend and our daughters over Easter and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had 2 adjoinging rooms as requested, the 3 girls had a ball sharing their own room. Swimming pool was great and kept them amused for the whole afternoon whilst we relaxed on the poolside loungers! We ate in the pub and restuarant and both were very good. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay for us all.

Wow... What can I say. I am currently staying here until Thursday with work and already I have found the place to be pretty abysmal. Cleanliness is poor - Two pills found on the floor along with a staple (proving the place isn't hoovered between guests) and a dead fly was found by the bath taps (have a picture to support this). Staff are extremely rude and was accused of being "awkward" due to being vegetarian and not liking their one option they provided me with. This was done by the large woman on reception. Further insult came when the incompetent waitress then tried shoving haddock under my nose! The food is awful and I have never tasted such disgusting vegetables in my entire life. Certainly would not pay to stay here. Still noisy outside too so clearly even sleep (along with decent service) is something I am not going to get from this stay either!
