Excellent service, food & atmosphere. Went with about 14 members of family by boat to the Millbrook Inn. service you couldn't fault as well as the food, celebrating the local produce in the best possible way, without being pretentious. Wonderful atmosphere & everyone seemed happy even thou the place was packed. We had the dinner menu, but other outside there was barbique & a wonderful looking Paella. My crab bisque followed by seafood pasta was extremely tasty. Can't wait to return on my next visit to Salcombe

We were recommended to visit this place as the authentic pub experience in S Devon, whilst we were travelling from Australia. We had three drinks and three very ordinary meals for the princely sum of 76 quid. The lamb was as tough as leather. We had many better pub experiences than this elsewhere in the UK, and much better food for half the price. Needless to say, we shall not be visiting again. My recommendation is to look for other options. The beer was OK though.

This is quite different from the regular gastro-pub. Small, out of the way, obscure even, but almost everything about it is original and not derivative. The menu is short, but intriguing, and definitely all local and done on-site. Nice use of offal and cheaper fish is nice to see rather than pushing diners towards splashing out on crab and lobster. Evident skill in the kitchen, too. Good beer is more of a focus than wine, which I applaud. The sort of place you'll think of as your discovery.

I have been going here for a number of years - it never disappoints whether lunch or dinner. It is especially nice if based in Salcombe to take advantage of the tide (we rented from Whitestrand Boat Hire) and take a boat to the Millbrook.
Be advised that it is highly advisable to book when the tide is right and we managed to get the last table. The setting is wonderful - what can be be better than a slow boat ride surrounded by the scenery of the South Hams to a quaint village and village pub - it is still very much the local's pub.
The menu is small but packed with interesting combinations. D had a super fish terrine and I had the foie gras with pigs' trotter patties (not PC but it was divine). We followed with Bath chaps (cheeks) and scallop for D, and I had the excellent bouillabaisse.
The staff were friendly as always and the food was top notch. Cost including large wine & 2 pints of the local brew was £69.
The only slight downer for us which has nothing to do with restaurant is the other guests... The South Hams is often the decampment of SW13 for the summer, and an incredibly loud table of those next to us made us decide to forego dessert. Very loud children called Archie and Lulu (I kid you not) with adults talking ever more loudly about their Aston and their Porsche took the edge off.
However we will be back when they are gone and enjoy another delicious meal at the Millbrook.

We sat in the sunshine by the brook/river and ate a lovely lunch. It was recommended by friends and I would highly recommend it too.
