After 2½ hours motorway driving we needed to swap drivers, etc. We had been here about five years ago, but it has a big car park, it is away from the A14, & we all needed a drink, so we stopped anyway.

We felt a bit guilty interrupting the staff’s conversation, but one of them showed us to a table. Drinks arrived quite quickly, and were fine. While we waited for snacks to be prepared, we debated if the ripped seat cover nearby was the same one as we noticed five years before. The food arrived and it was edible. There were three meals, two sets of cutlery were provided, and then the entire staff disappeared before we could ask for more, we eventually found some. We borrowed condiments from a nearby table.

The toilets had probably been cleaned earlier that day; but not recently, one hand-dryer in the gents’ was seriously damaged.

If you have low expectations, you won’t be disappointed.

My friend, toddler and I stopped off at little chef for a bite to eat. The place is filthy and out dated, the food was horrendous, my two year old wouldn't even touch his kids pasta (I am not surprised as it was tasteless and I wouldn't even feed it to my dog!) the waitress was dull and clearly didn't care about her job, we asked to speak to a manager as it was just a nightmare and we were told there was no manager or supervisor to speak to. Absolutely terrible service and a dirty disgusting premises.

Off the beaten track, so not overcrowded. Good quality food and very pleasant staff, both in the evening and the following morning, for breakfast. The lady on duty in the morning (cap with pony tail poking through) did an excellent job as she was on her own doing all the cooking and waiting and cleaning away. The service was quick and the food was lovely. Thank you Little Chef, well done!

Just stopped here in a 'caffeine-baby stretch-feed and change' situation. Christ, it's a Little Chef I thought however, optimistically I figured perhaps they had updated things since the eighties by now.. They hadn't. Appeared to be full of likewise bewildered punters working out how not to end up in a Little Chef on the Christmas relative-run return home. Had some kind of toastie with a breaded meat object in it and a salad with sweet chilli thrown up all over it. Coffee and chips were luckily fine, the toilets weren't, some freshers had obviously been in and thrown toilet roll everywere. It was obviously not policy to run checks on cleanliness until the end of day. I was going to take a photo but didn't want to stay there longer than was necessary. A special positive nod to the staff though, polite, speedy and loud clear voices. Good for the hard of hearing. Someone should definitely employ these two when they take over the Little Chef chain, raise it to the ground and build cafes that people arent sitting in stuck in some retro nightmare of despair remembering the halcyon dates when Little Chefs ruled the motorway and parents were happy to let their over excited children suck on a free lollipop. Just a thought...
