“The World's Most Impressive Pottery!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

This is a great small museum filled with the most incredible pottery...maybe the best in the world. The pottery is so wonderfully artistic that we were stunned!

“A pleasant little museum”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

While not as showy as the Royal Tombs, this little gem is worth a look if you are interested in the area. Burning was one of the earliest excavators (as opposed to looters) and the displays are largely his discoveries. It's a good story and the artifacts are always interesting.

“It is the richest collection in Lambayeque...”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

For me, it should be #1 museum to visit in Lambayeque. It is not as dazzling as Tumbas Reales museum, but it presents the originals, not copies, and a LARGE collection; around 1300+ items of Moche, Chavín, Vicús, Inca cultures and others. Some pieces date of more than 10,000 years ago.
The collection is well organized and described. If you want to take photos/videos, go to the Brüning, it allows it, while Tumbas Reales does not.. For me an important fact, which allows me to share, later, the experience with my family and friends at home.

Thumbs up!

“Great Museum”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

The Bruning museum is located near the center of Lambayeque, and approximately 5 blocks from the Museo Reales del Senor de Sipan. The Bruning Museum is quite different from the "Sipan" museum in that it has a modest display (but quite interesting) of gold and silver jewelry, excellent display of ceramics, ceramic moulds, weapons and agricultural implements from the various Peruvian civilizations found in the north of Peru: Chavin, Moche, Chemin and Lambayeque. The ceramic displays and description of the metal making techniques of the coastal Peru cultures are excellent and quite instructional. The museum is small but not too small. Displays labeled in both Spanish and English. Photos w/o flash are allowed. Entry was S/10 per person. Bathrooms available.

Tours generally do not now include the museum in their schedule. When my wife and I visited Lambayeque (on our tour), we skipped the "lunch" and visited the museum for about 45minutes. The alternative, if you have more time, is to take a taxi from Chiclayo to Lambayeque (@S/20 one way), or take a "combi" bus from Chiclayo to Lambayeque and then return same way to Chiclayo (S/2.20 per person per trip, or @S/9 for 2 people r/t). Combi's are safe and efficient and all the locals use them - just take the normal precautions. If you do not speak any Spanish, and have not traveled much in Peru, best to stay with a taxi. Enjoy and good luck!
