We just came back from the resort and had the best time ever.
The sense of arrival at the lobby is just spectacular with this 180degree view overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, we were welcome by Khun Nat with a lovely smile.
Our room had magnificient direct sea view, and we could spend the entire time contemplating from our large open terrace.
The restaurants of the hotel are just perfect, and I cannot agree with some comments on the site mentioning that the hotel is expensive. When you stay in a five star resort, you do not only pay for the meal but for all the level of service, comfort and luxury.A dish average Usd 12 which is more that reasonable and the food is exceptional,as the hotel has a Michelin Star of Experience young and dynamic chef.
The hotel is one of the rare five star resorts on the island, with both a stunning view and pristline white sand beach, with several water activities,Khun Ta who takes care of the beach acitivites was great.
The resort also has a private speedboat, and we tries the National Anthong Park on a private trip.which is a Must Do.
The Spa is perched at 120m above sea level,(as per their say) and treatments are outstandings, thanks to Khun Denny and her team of expert, nothing was too much for them to accommodate our need.
The resort is exceptional, and we will definitely come back.

Stayed in a Premier Ocean View Room for 4 nights - stunning panorama views. The room was modern and spacious - very nice. The bathroom was modern also - great bathtub and walk in shower. Great balcony view.
The hotel lobby has that wow factor. Full on panorama, you can't help but go -- "wow"
Waking up going to the lobby pool to see the steam rising off the forest/jungle was fantastic.
The hotel itself was modern and new - i didn't feel that it was in need of repair.
The breakfast was good, dinner also was good. The only issue with the food I had was one afternoon when we were having lunch in the beach restaurant there were so many flies in the restaurant, it was annoying and although the food was fine the fly situation (like 6 or so) whizzing around my lunch was really irritating - a small issue which can surely be fixed.
Cocktails were good - as expected with this resort type London or Tokyo prices for the drinks, which is fine. Dinner was reasonable also - I wouldn't say it was overpriced for the quality.
It's a massive resort away from the crowds - you come here to chill.
It even has a wooden suspension bridge in a jungle setting that connects the upper section of the hotel to the private beach area - The beach isn't that spectacular however - I think quite a lot of junk comes down from the north of the island in the ocean current, but the staff have a team which clean up whatever washes up every morning - its good to see that sort of pro activeness in trying to keep the beach clean. Pool areas where really nice.

Overall - I'd go again only a bit longer next time, fantastic views.

Dear hungrysumo,

Thank you very much for your review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and choose us, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam, Resort to be only your Samui option - your wonderful feedback is very much appreciated. Thank you as well for sharing the shortcomings you experienced during your stay this would be of great help in resolving the service limitations.

I have taken note of your comment about the fly situation at our beach restaurant and shared with the respective teams for immediate action.

Regarding the junk in the beach area, we have noticed about this situation two weeks ago as this is the raining season so it comes from another part of Koh Samui. Our green team work very hard now to clear all of it in everyday.

Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us this tremendous feedback! I am Delighted to hear that you truly enjoyed the stunning views, the warm service and culinary highlights at InterContinental Samui.

My Team and I look forward to welcoming you back to you “Home on a Beautiful Cliff” on your upcoming trip to Koh Samui.

Sincerely yours

We booked the Intercon knowing it was remote and would not be overrun with people to allow us time to really unwind and get settled into our two week holiday. Not to mention we needed to recover from the jet lag following our 12 hour flight that was 3 hours delayed.

We arrived late Saturday and were greeted at the airport by our driver complete with cold towels and drinks for the 40 min ride. Arriving onto the hotel grounds you immediately know this is going to be a great place. Check in was quick and we were shown to our room. For this trip we chose the Serenity package and elected for the one bed panoramic suite in the main building. The package included yoga, 2 hours in the spa, breakfast, lunch on one of the days, transfers, and a personal butler.
The staff, the room, the food, all was great about this resort. We were unable to get our yoga session due to issues with the teacher however we asked for more spa time in exchange and were given it plus late check out to accommodate the spa timings. The only complaint I could even consider is that we couldn't stay longer! We left recharged and ready to go. The hotel provided the transfer to our next location, about 10 min away.

Just back from a stay at the Intercontinental in Samui, if time out in a secluded part of Samui in a relaxed atmosphere with breath taking views is what you are after them the Intercontinental is perfect! If you want somewhere close to Chaweng and a busy night life, then Intercontinental is not for you!
The hotel is set on a cliff with the most amazing views over the sea and especially at sunset, they are actually breath taking!
We stayed in the main building, our room was ideal and we had stunning views out to the sea, it was only a short stroll to the lobby and to breakfast each morning, which catered for all your needs, if something wasn’t there just ask and it could be arranged.
The beach was a short walk over the bridge and down the steps, the buggies at the lobby are also available to take you there!
There are only two restaurants in the hotel (excluding the light bights at the Air Bar)so you are somewhat limited in choice, but if you stroll down the beach there is a small beach side bar that serves local dishes and cheap beers. There is also the Five Islands Restaurant which you can walk to from the hotel, but if you book they will come and pick you up from the main entrance.
There are also shuttle services into Chaweng and Nathon from the hotel at a minimal fee.
We did have one meal included in our package at Amber, it was a set menu but it was super selection of different dishes!
The only few downsides would be that all drinks, especially wine, are a little on the expensive side (especially when you include service charge and taxes). We stayed during low season and service at times could be a little slow, especially at the beach pool and bar was often a little slow, asking for water could often prove to be a wait. Perhaps this was just due to staff numbers but as it is rated as a 5 star, you expect the service in all aspects.

A tip, would be 4 nights as a max here.

Overall, a super stay and a drink at sunset at the airbar is a must!

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building are perfect, no lengthy walks to anywhere!

Dear Hyvaa,

Thank you so much for writing us an incredible review! Your review was an absolute pleasure to read! The detail of your positive comments about our property and service is very much appreciated by our entire team. I will share your kind words of appreciation with them!

I am particularly disappointed to hear that the service performance of our beach pool and bar team was not up to your expectations, as this is the single most common reason why our guests rate us so highly. However, I take note of your feedback and reminded our associates to be focused, sharp and attentive to guest needs.

I am truly pleased that we took part in creating such wonderful memories of your holiday in Koh Samui!

It has been our joy and privilege to serve you and your family and we look forward to being of service to you again when your next return to your “place perfect to get away from it all”.

We booked at the Intercontinental in Samui without knowing the island and the location of the hotel. We had read in some reviews that it was a bit off track, and were pleasantly surprised to discover a breathtaking panorama with amazing views on the 5 islands and the sunset. It is indeed a bit secluded, but the hotel has so much to offer that we did not miss the hussle and bustle of the nearby villages.

The restaurants Flames and Amber serve good food - we especially enjoyed to have dinner literally on the beach at the Flames. The rooms are well appointed and have gorgeous views on the sea. The beach is not very large but very cute.

And what we liked the most was the friendliness and smile of all staff members - including the general manager who entertained us for a cocktail on the beach. Everyone has a great attitude, and even if they are not sure about the order, they all make their outmost to please us. Special congrats to Boy, at the beach, for outstanding friendliness and service.

The value for money is pretty good - we did not find the food overpriced unlike mentioned in some other reviews. The only point is the wine selection, which could be wider and at more reasonable prices.

This is another terrific Intetcontinental - thank you for a great stay.
