Conrad Koh Samui - just got back from a fantastic stay at the Conrad in Koh Samui, and this resort was pure 5 star fantastic.

We settled on staying at the Conrad in Koh Samui after doing a good amount of research of numerous hotels and resorts. Being a Hilton Diamond member, we had some bias towards the Conrad, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

This resort is very secluded from the rest of the island. It is about a 50 minute ride from the airport, and once you get there, it’s not easy to get out from the resort. We decided to rent a car after reading some reviews on trip advisor and we were glad we did. Parking was free and easy at the hotel.

Check in was super quick once we arrived at the resort. We were provided with drinks upon arrival and had our personal concierge great us (Tint). Our luggage was quickly shuttles down to our villa and Tint recapped all the benefits and amenities the resort had to offer. Being a diamond member, we received complementary breakfast at zest as well as a handful of drink coupons. We went to breakfast each morning, which truly is more of a feast than anything. All types of breakfast food was served from local to western.

Once we arrived at our villa we were in awe. Everything from the layout to amenities and view were spectacular. We booked a 2 bedroom villa and were unsure how large it would be, but we were pleasantly surprised on the size and space. Each villa is equipped with its own private pool, courtyard as well as spectacular views of the sunset.

The only down side of the resort is that it is on a hill and you have to take a golf cart everywhere you go. There were plenty of carts that ran 24/7, but walking is not really an option. We walked back from breakfast a handful of times, but be prepared to schlep over 1km uphill. We also did the sunset cruise and thought it wasn’t worth the money and time. There were a number of other better excursions to do, as well as the resort offering a number of other great activity.

This hotel is truly amazing, my family and I have spent a weeks vacation in the Conrad Koh Samui and loved every minute of it.

Our Resort Host {Tent} has taken care of us at every given opportunity, whilst being seconds away via a WhatsApp Msg, and we have experienced all the facilities and experiences; which are of an immaculate standard.

From the Prompt Buggy Service and the Professional Spa Therapists, to all the amazing F&B Experiences {Floating Breakfast, Asadong Bazaar, Beach BBQ and Jahn; which I would personally recommend}.

The excursions offerings were extremely good and the excursion rep lady; was exceptional in her recommendations. 10/10.

Housekeeping provided excellent accommodation and service in well appointed Ocean View Villas with private Infinity Pools.

The view of the Gulf of Thailand from all locations in this hotel, makes this hotel a perfect location and the level of service from “All Hotel Staff”; makes for an Overall Exceptional Hotel.

{PS and not to forget Joe Brown, the Musician at the Beach BBQ; amazing}

The Conrad Koh Samui property is gorgeous in every way. The villas are dotted along the hillside and one must be transported via golf cart up, down and everywhere for breakfast, to get in/out of the property, etc. If you're impatient and intolerable, then this property may not be for you. The staff take extra effort to make a favorable impression. The breakfast is very good, though we found seating to be limited. We encountered heavy rainfall which pretty much washed out the day. The resort offered free movies to all its guests which was a very nice gesture by the hotel management.

Our 2 bedroom villa was simply superb! The location and views at this wonderful resort are some of the best you will see. Even the beach is better than we expected, from out online research.
The quality of food was very good, although a little more variety for a guest with plain dietary desires would be good.

It was interesting to compare the Intercontinental (15 minutes away) which we also stayed at during this holiday, with the Conrad. Very little between them, but the accommodation at the Conrad just edges the Intercontinental, especially taking into consideration the lovely private pool. If it is very personal and attentive service from all staff that you are looking for then the Intercontinental edges it, with the its afternoon tea and evening cocktails being a very nice feature.

Conrad Koh Samui was somewhere I'd always wanted to visit so I was really looking forward to staying there,

We booked a 2 bedroom villa for us and our 2 daughters. We had a living room, loo and kitchen on the entry floor and 2 bedrooms with walk in closets and bathrooms with showers and baths on the lower floor with direct access to our own infinity pool. The villa was great and the view over the sea didn't disappoint. Apart from the over head only lighting in the living area - (to be honest I think we should have had a lamp but the plug socket was taped over) anyway - so far so good.

Now the things which weren't so good:

Buggies - it is virtually impossible to walk around the grounds of this hotel. We managed to walk to the beach twice but the gradient is about 1:4 so not easy. You have to call a golf buggy to go anywhere, this starts to wear a little thin, buggy for breakfast and back, buggy for lunch and back, buggy to the pool and back, buggy for dinner and back etc etc. They usually came within about 10 minutes but there seemed to be a lot of waiting around and I would really have been happier if we could have walked. Also a fair bit of queue jumping outside restaurants at peak times.

Housekeeping, Intermittent. We had to call 2 days out of 8 as room still hadn't been made up by 5pm. They were so late a couple of times they actually did the turn down at the same time as the make up! This probably was a bonus as turn down happens at 6.30/7.00 otherwise, right on the time you want to use the shower and get changed for dinner.

Restaurants - advertised as 4 but in reality only 2 as one is private dining for 2 people only and Jahn which only seats 28 isn't included on Half Board. One is outdoor and mainly steaks/chicken/burger/pizza and the other is indoor Thai. Both have a fairly limited menu which starts to get boring after a few days of the same. Each one was closed at least one night during our visit with no warning so we had buggied there then had to buggy to the other one.

Service - not 5 star Examples - our concierge booking us into one of the restaurants even through it was closed that night (only found out when we tried to move the booking back half an hour). Being asked to keep starter cutlery for main course (?!) staff attempting to charge for meal even though we were on half board - staff telling us there was a 'different menu' we should have somehow known about for half board so we would have to pay - there wasn't and we didn't. The reception staff didn't seem to be fully able to understand us, ie, I rang and asked for room make up as it was 5.30 and needed a shower, 2 engineering staff turned up to fix shower. Random visit to fix WIFI which wasn't broken either

Pool area/Beach - lots of loungers as guessing a lot of people at their villas. Free kayaking and paddle boards, Cabanas free to use and available, A couple of hammocks, swings etc on the beach. Very nice.

All in all, I would sum up this hotel as great villas not great service.

Room tip: Some of the rooms are billed as more secluded and cost more. They're all pretty quiet so no need to bother paying extra
