“Worth the trek up the steps”

Marquess of Anglesey's Column
Reviewed January 22, 2013

The views make this well worth the climb
you can see not only the snowdon range but get a 360 panorama across anglesey
it is also close to the historic town of LlanfairPG with the longest name in the world
but the name is not as old as you might think
it was created with the coming of the railways so as to attract tourists

One sunny day, a group of us decided to go up the column. As I had never been in my life I thought why not. The parking is free, but there is a £1.50 charge to adults and 75p for children to go up. The staircase is pretty narrow and cramped but once you get to the top it is worth it for the great view of the Menai straits and the village. Would not recommend going to the top with more than 6 people as there isn't a great deal of room.

Located just off the A5 as you arrive on Anglesey, there is free parking available but a small fee to entry to access the column (Adults: £1.50, children: 75p and under 5’s free). Provides views of the Menai Straight which it towers above.

From the car park there is a short woodland walk up to the base of the column. If you dare to climb the 115 steps to the top the views are spectacular both over the Menai Straits and Anglesey.

You can enjoy refreshments in the small garden on your return to ground level.
