Service is like any beach town in the WORLD (Sega/Sega or slowly, slowly) which really translates to what your damn vacation should entail when on CRETE.

Take it easy, Bro. Enjoy your self and don't fret over 'where is my bread!'

Really decent food for the money. Nice spot. Not pushy or rude just an old-timer vibe. Order a bottle of wine, feta and olives ASAP and relax whilst the rest falls into place.

This is CRETE not GREECE try and remember that and they will love and respect you.

A few 50m from the beach, this place was actually very homely. Beautiful grapevines for shade on the huge terrace. It was clearly a busy place, because the waiter was still clearing up after what had seemed to be a meal for 12-14 Cretan Youngsters and they looked very happy. There was a constant Flow of dinner guests, hugging and shaking hands with the owners :-) A Great atmosphere!

I watched the fotball on the huge flatscreen out on the terrace with the fresh breeze.

I ordererd the pork chop, Some salad and a small starter with deep fried zucchini. Very tasty and well grilled with light seasoning. Hearty portions and Just as i thought i had filled each corner in my belly, complimentary melon and raki as i waited for my bill given to me by the youngest waiter ive seen (8) Very cute:-)

The service was extremely slow though, but it must be a Cretan thing, didnt mind much as i was in no hurry, but very manjana manjana.

Had to roll myself and my belly outside and will definately be back ;-)

Stavros on TripAdvisor, and Zorba's Taverna? WOW....
In the last five years, have eaten here several times...The portions are huge, the food is excellent but you should be aware that service is slow. For two, you will eat for 20 to 25 Euros maximum.

Zorba's is a family run taverna with Mum and Dad doing the cooking and the rest of the family waiting on tables. This isn't a fancy restaurant with waiters trying to catch you and pull you in, it's a simple restaurant with delicious home cooked food. The seating area is cool under the grapevines and you will always get a warm welcome. Most of the family speak English and those that don't will try!
There is a menu, but it's better to ask what they have "in the oven" - there are always different dishes cooked daily. They also do some fantastic dishes on the grill - their pork chops are quite an experience and so large that they hang over the end of the plate. My favourite is chicken souvlaki, but I also love the sausages, the dachos and their Greek salads.
The prices are so reasonable that we ended up having lunches as well as our evening meals here. Its just a short stroll from Stavros beach, so wander down and take a seat in a very traditional taverna, amongst the locals and experience some of the best, home-cooked food in true Cretan style.
