me and my sister stayed at the miners arms mid march 2013, sorry for the late review, we arrived right in the middle off the bad snow storms for a 2 night stay, which turned into a 3 night stay due to being snowed in ( our gain ) . The landlord was most helpful on our arrival, couldn't do enough.. the room was excellent and clean. the food was amazing, served hot and tasty from helpful staff. breakfast were fantastic, set us up for the day. landlord even asked if we wanted sandwiches making for the afternoon. the pub was noisy till 11 ish but what do you expect its a village pub. will defiantly come back preferably when the weather improves , thanks for a great stay.

Firstly, this is a review of the food and not of the rooms. It is many years since my OH and myself have eaten at The Miners Arms. In fact it was in the days of Peter Cook (not Dudley Moore's sidekick), which must have been some 20 years ago, when the place was popular and food first class.

We were looking for a place to eat on a Monday evening and most of our favourite places are closed. I saw some of the reviews on TA and suggested we try it. In fact, we were not disappointed with the food. Quite a good selection on the blackboard, reasonably priced and my husband chose liver and bacon and I chose chicken breast with stilton & cider sauce. The order was taken by a very pleasant young man and the meals came out reasonably quickly, piping hot and with a good selection of fresh vegetables.

We would certainly return, but I really do think that the place needs a makeover and by that, I don't mean all the character taking out of the old place, but at least, decorating.

Stopped in for lunch, very warm welcome and excellent service. Good selection of food available - sandwiches through to full main. Food was fresh and excellent quality. Presentation was also first class.

We were passing through the Peak district and directed to Eyam as an option for an overnight stay.
I am writing this review primarily as an accommodation location and realise that most people will be interested in the Miners Arms as a pub.
Being a Friday afternoon and the fact that the pub had rooms available we booked into room 3.
This is a very old hotel and this showed in the room although to be fair it was clean and functional. We were pleased to have the fire escape door in the room as it was a hot night and we were able to get some air in prior to closing it for sleeping. The bed was an old wire wove base with inner spring mattress. The sort that makes you roll into the middle of the bed. The furniture was tired and the wardrobe was a curtained off open space. There was nowhere to put any toiletry bag in the bathroom and we used the floor to store it and rummage for items. For the money not very good value.
On the other hand the Hotel was lovely. The staff were very friendly even though they were short of people due to a wedding in the village. In the evening the locals arrived and it was obviously a popular meeting point. Judging by the trophies in the bar they also have a good darts team. The food was excellent and definitely worth a visit

Room Tip: Use room 3 for fresh air option

Looking at the reviews, on Tripadvisor, suggests that there is a difference between the dining and staying experience at The Miners Arms. I visited in the evening and although busy the wait wasnt too long - nearly got to wondering but it was a Saturday (25 minutes). A good choice of beers - an extra choice of cider would have been welcome. The food was fairly priced for pub food (between around £8-£13 for mains and a range of starters )- the ham steak, fish and chips, giant Yorkshire (Derbyshire?!) pudding and grilled salmon were all very well cooked - hot on arrival at the table - and nicely presented with side veg accompanying some mains. Staff friendly although one was a bit touchy on Saturday evening when reminded for mustard! A great spot.

We have just returned from spending a week in Eyam, we ate at The Miners Arms twice and both times the food was first class, the ham steaks and the fish and chips are the best. Good mix of people, holiday makers and some entertaining locals. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially Mark who wanted to make sure everyone enjoyed there food. Excellent good old fashioned english pub, superb food. Thank you

Come here occasionally with the older members of my family who seem to like coming back here. The food is nice and normally some good hand pull beers on also.

Service is reasonable although, every time we go there are numerous articles off the menu unavailable which isn't great and restricts our choice.
