My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. After exploring the main town, it is simply wonderful to drive further out on the island and find this lovely small village on the sea, called Apollon. But finding the Adonis Hotel was the best part of the experience!

A family run hotel, Stamatis warmly greeted us, got us nicely settled in (rooms very comfortable) and then gave us some very useful information about his village. We walked down to the sea for a refreshing swim, had an ouzo at the taverna beside the beach, wandered back to the hotel in time for his mother's cooking. She is an excellent cook!

Stamatis is quite willing to take the time to tell you about his family history which includes the family garden where many items on the menu are grown. And not far away (within walking distance) is a famous Greek antiquity...a kouris which was carved (not ever finished) from a marble quarry.

I know you will love being here and it will end up being one of your Greek Experiences you will be happy to share with family and friends!

Stayed there 4 nights (B&B) in July 2013 and can only confirm what others have already said – what a super hotel & what a fantastic host Stamatis is (as others have said – does he ever sleep??). Stamatis is always available and is just so helpful and even offered help with our poor attempts at learning Greek by emailing us Greek grammar notes!

We were offered 2 rooms & chose Room 302 on the second floor; a double room with bathroom, & balcony overlooking the road but with views to the long pebble beach. The room included a fridge, TV & a ‘step in’ shower (so no sopping wet floor – fab!), air con included & was cleaned every day. Breakfast was superb and included homemade jams & cakes. At the back of the hotel are gardens with fruit trees & veg; there is also another veg garden further along in the village and Stamatis took us there to meet his father and to show us what they grow; most of the veg used in the hotel is home grown – potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, horta (wild greens), strawberries, onions, cucumber, melons, beans etc. We ate 3 nights in the hotel – dishes prepared by Stamatis’ mother – which included fried small fish, briam, pasticcio, baked fish & lovely salads with the local creamy cheese on top. The complimentary homemade sweets (lemon sweet and rose sweet) and liqueurs were much appreciated as was an ouzo tasting session!

We travelled to Apollon by bus from Apeiranthos – what a stunning journey through the mountains. Hotel Adonis is just up the street from the village centre with its small harbour & small sandy town beach, there is also a long pebble beach but it was too windy to ever do anything but just walk along as the waves just crashed in! The town beach is gently shelving but take your own brollies & mats (can usually borrow some from Adonis Hotel if staying here), it was also quite windy so large pebbles to keep the brollies upright were at a premium! Apollon is a smallish village, with a regular bus service in the summer (2 per day in July); there are 3 or 4 tavernas, two gift shops, a couple of cafes and a small shop with just the basics.

Thank you Stamatis for a superb stay & thank you too for driving us to Naxos Town. (Sorry it’s taken us so long to write the review).

Room Tip: Choose a second floor room

I came at the end of the season but Stamatis and his parents made great efforts to keep everything going for me. The hotel is close to the port and a perfect place to enjoy a quiet time when most of the tourists have left.

This hotel has some of the best service we have ever experienced. The 2nd night, we got a free upgrade to a room with a balcony and sea view, no requests made. They really do take care a listen to individually needs. The owner is happy to share his knowledge about the local area, and the daily run of the hotel and its restuarant, if one is interested.

Everything made in the restaurant is organic. They have brillint dishes served. I.e. Moussaka, mackarel, veal etc. Even the marmelade is made of their own . Their fig-marmelade is wonderful.

Good breakfast buffet, with all one can need for a good start of the day.

We warmly recommed this hotel.

The village of Apollonas is not very big, and has no nightlife. It is the perfect getaway place for a quiet few days. Do rent a car in Chora, Naxos town if one wishes to explore the island. If one is not fond of mountain driving, one will be afterwards.

Note: it is not possible to buy bus tickets in Apollonas village. Return-tickets must be purchased in advance in the KTEL ticket office in Chora/Naxos town.

This hotel is a absoulte must if one is on a relaxing holliday in Naxos Island.

Enjoy it!

I recommend Hotel Adonis in Apollonas to everyone! Truly, it's a place for a real vacation. All the rooms are great, with sea view. The hotel is only 30 meters away from the sea, and if you take a 3 minute walk, you can find a small, intimate beach, where very few people come. It's a family hotel, with very hospitable owner, mr. Stamatis. He and his family also grow an organic garden, so the food in their restaurant is extremly tasty. All the best to Andris family, and see you next year! Greetings from Serbia! Nina
