“Lovely Renovation Great Holiday Home”
Reviewed April 3, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

This is a beautiful holiday cottage with everything you could need. Loved all the Railway memorabilia. This is a very comfortable house with three bathrooms all on one level with a wonderful kitchen. We enjoyed watching the trains come and go from the Dining room which overlooks the platforms. The village is small but contains everything you could need. The Locals are very friendly and helpful especially the Medical Centre which we unfortunately had to use due to my husband falling of his bike. We will return to this lovely house.

“Fantastic house ”
Reviewed August 8, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

A beautifully presented house, the online photographs do not do it justice. Spacious and well equipped. The trains were unfortunately off for engineering work while we were there but Sanquhar is well positioned for many places that are about an hour's drive away in all directions- we enjoyed Culzean Castle, Dumfries House, the coast at Kipford and even a day trip to Arran. We loved returning 'home' and found the locals to be very friendly. I would recommend the Station Master's house as a very comfortable, clean, well equipped and presented holiday let. There is no secure, enclosed outside space for the dogs but I managed taking the dogs out early morning and late at night- of course they were out with us in the day. There was no sign that dogs are allowed in the house, it was all so clean and fresh.

“Great Accommodation”
Reviewed October 15, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Six adults and one dog stayed in the Station Masters house to celebrate our friends special birthday. The accommodation is great 3 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms ideal for six adults who also want their own space. The kitchen had everything you could think of for a self catering stay. Comes with a piano too
We loved the old signage throughout the cottage
The train line is in use and we did travel to Dumfries where we went to Robert Burns house
The people in the village are very helpful and always willing to speak to you
Nice few small shops too and the oldest Post Office
Great place to stay

“Now that's what I call a Railway Station!”
Reviewed September 6, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed in the Station Master's House for a week with two daughters, one son in law, two grandchildren and a dog for the last few days of August and into September.

We had a great time visiting the local attractions - good walking, stately homes, lovely countryside - as well as travelling a bit further afield to the sandy beaches south of Caatle Douglas and day trips to Edinburgh Zoo and Glasgow.

The property is delightful - spacious throughout, comfortable, well furnished and equipped and spotlessly clean. As a (steam) railway enthusiast, I particularly enjoyed the railwayana that added a period note to the surroundings.

Three bedrooms (two double with one twin) and a sofa bed for our grandson, two bathrooms and an en-suite, a massive kitchen/diner, a dining room and a utility area meant there was plenty of room for us all. Additionally, it is all on one floor so ideal for people with disabilities.

The trains that run on the adjacent line were a constant source of enjoyment for our grandson and, despite a few running through the night, did not disturb our sleep at all.

Indeed, we took advantage of the adjacent (but securely separate) platforms for a day trip to Glasgow.

We ate in most nights, but did utilise the local Chinese takeaway twice - we can thoroughly recommend it.

Well recommended.

Very spacious and good quality conversion, handy for trains to Carlisle and Glasgow as trains stop right out side the door. Village is quaint and shopkeepers and villagers are very friendly. Good selection of takeaways who will also deliver. Asda at Cumnuck also do online deliveries.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed April 19, 2015 for a stay in July 2014

We have stayed at the Station House 2013 and 2014 what fantastic house.

Anttention to detail is great. The house is large with excellent facilitie,s great wi-fi. Good local shops and take aways., Good local walks. People of the village very friendly. Lots of information in the house of things and place to go.

We went with our teenager daughter and the family dog and all had a great holidays.

Having the train on your doorstep could not be more perfect to travel to Glasgow which is a great place to go and many other destinations.

Couldn't recommend this holiday home enough, would have gone again this year but unfortunately, station house all booked up for the dates we required.

Peter the host could not be more helpful and is only a phone call away.

“If only Railway Stations were all like this...!”
Reviewed November 21, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

First impressions are important, and at this place that is of Quality. The renovation of the Station was clearly a work of some love (I sense a train-spotter owns this place!) and as a result each room is beautifully laid out, warm, airy and light with qualify furnishings - the Victorian radiators and tiling around the Station being a real feature. The house absorbed a bunch of guys on a cycling trip with ease. There were enough pubs and restaurants around town to keep us interested, and the cycling was excellent, with a number of attractive routes immediately outside the town. The Blackaddie restaurant does a good quality meal and has a great wine list.
