“Comfortable accommodation with 5 star dining”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

What a wonderful find this b&b was. A thoroughly French rustic farm run by two very friendly young Brits. The room we had was very roomy with a newly fitted shower room and overlooking the courtyard. Although we're a mature couple we could see that this delightful place would be a wonderland for a young family. The children are encouraged to pet the animals and collect eggs and play in the garden. The best thing of all was the wonderful evening meal we enjoyed. For a very reasonable price we had the best five course meal we've ever had while in France. Every mouthful was exquisite and the wine excellent too. Sue and Peter were wonderful hosts and deserve every success in their venture.

Rustic farmhouse perfectly located for stopovers or longer.

Nice room for 5 - 2 adults and 3 kids for just over £70

Family were very welcoming including the children who entertained our children on trampolines , playareas and the French coutryside.

Best thing was the food, served with their family and our family together in a beautiful dining room. Served with local products to restaurant very high quality.

Breakfast great also.

Many thanks for such a great stay.

Rustic French farm house turned into a nice B&B, run by great hosts Su and Peter, who is an excellent chef. We stayed for 4 days/3 nights. We had two great dinners in a large common dinning room with Peter and Su and we wish we booked one more. We tried both the 3 course dinner at 7pm and the 5 course dinner at 8pm. Both were very nice and totally worth the price. Peter even made an awesome chocolate cake for our birthday celebration. It was nice to come back after being out all day to great food and very comfortable accommodations. The breakfast included great pastries, bread and a home made fresh yogurt.

Our rooms were perfect size and very comfortable. My husband and I stayed at Euro room and our parents and our toddler stayed in a larger Calvados room where we had an extra fold out bed brought in for her. The common living room area was full of great books, movies, wine and beer for purchase and a WiFi connection.

Peter’s and Su’s kids were very nice and great with our little daughter. There are plenty of toys and things to do for kids around the farm house, including bikes, a trampoline, and a variety of farm and pet animals. The location was great: 25 minutes to Caen train station, 45 minutes to the beaches, 1h 20 minutes to Mont St. Michele, 20 minutes to Cider route and more.

I would highly recommend this B&B for families and would advise to have dinner at the location every night.

We arrived late at night straight off the ferry, our sat nav wouldn't let us put in the lat and long kindly given us by the owners, but putting in the D63 took us very close and we found it quite easily in the pitch black of a November night! The room was warm, cozy and spotless, the shower really good and hot. A really lovely fresh breakfast, lovely bread, croissants and yoghurt set us up for the day. The owners are a really nice couple who obviously put a lot of hard work into running their B&B. Sadly we had to leave straight after breakfast, we will definitely stay again.

This is a lovely friendly b and b. The food is excellent. Petes cooking is on the par of and expensive hotel. The area is peaceful a must for me at night.

We stayed twice, travelling for 5 hours to make it on our last day.

The only thing which needs some attention is the bathrooms. which I am sure they will do when they have the cash.

Worth staying for the evening meals, which are eaten around a large table with Pete and Sue.

Room Tip: Calvados suite was fine

La Vieille Ferme is just 30 minutes south of Caen, an ideal spot for touring the Landing Beaches and Normandy. The farm is full of rustic charm and Su and Pete are the most wonderful hosts. Set in a small village just outside of the lovely town of Falaise there is parking on site. All the bedrooms are huge. There is also a guest lounge with tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar and Sky TV for teenagers who can't bare to be away from their TV. There is also a very good selection of books. Outside there is a garden and children's play area. Of importance to our teenagers was the free Wi-fi which meant they managed to keep in touch with the world. But if you stay here then dinner is a must. That is the highlight of the whole experience. Pete is a wonderful cook. Pre-dinner drinks, followed by appetizers, and then a first course, main course, cheese course and dessert was just beautiful. Steak, sea bass and duck were some of the mains. Cheeses are all local. An apple sorbet with calvados to cleanse the palate was lovely. Desserts included summer pudding, chocolate mousse, a creme brulee to die for and a wonderful apricot tart. We were so sad to leave.

Su & Pete are the most perfect hosts you could ask for attending to every guests needs. Their wealth of information about the local area and culture is invaluable. Their wonderful hospitality and Petes exquisite cuisine made for the best holiday we have had in years. Our room (The Manche Suite) was spotlessly clean, very spacious with plenty of room for a family including an en suite and a wonderful view overlooking the courtyard. Our children have already begged us to take them back soon, which we are already planning, we will definitely be back! I would highly recommend this wonderful Bed & Breakfast.
