“Perfect country retreat”
Reviewed April 25, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This is our second visit to Le Petit Bosquet and we were not disappointed on our return. The gite is very laid out and is the most comfortable place we have ever visited on our many trips to France. The hosts are very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The village is quite rural, but with a car it is easy to visit the Loire region. In 4 days we managed to go to Amboise, Chenonceau, Saumur and Usse (Sleeping Beauty castle). If you are a walker or cyclist this would be an ideal spot too.
We hope to return before too long as we felt we had the chance to really enjoy some peaceful time here. A gem in the French countryside.

“Peaceful rural retreat!”
Reviewed July 14, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed at Le Petit Bosquet for Le Mans Classic (about 40 mins away). The gite, situated in a rural setting, was ideal to drive to several neighbouring towns such as Angers, Tours and Le Mans. It was very peaceful and a great place to relax and unwind with a glass or two of wine. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming whereby we shared a few glasses of wine. There are various gardens in which to sit and are very well kept. This is a lovely and spacious gite!

“Grand Luxury in rural France”
Reviewed June 10, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed here in late May 2014. Our English host who lives on the property got us settled and showed us all the features of this modern luxury apartment.

The unit is huge. It is bigger than the 2 bedroom condo we call home. It is impeccably clean, renovated and furnished with every possible convenience.

Upstairs is a huge bedroom with a double bed and equally huge bathroom including a spacious shower. Downstairs is a living, dining area that can sleep another two on a sleeper sofa, a spacious kitchen, a separate laundry and another large bathroom.

The unit is very tastefully furnished and comfortable. Adequate heating throughout and a portable air-conditioner for the bedroom.

The kitchen has a full size refrigerator and oven as well as all necessary small appliances.

The unit is very quiet. The location is well away from roads and set in very peaceful countryside. There is an above ground pool on the property for the summer.

This place provides a great launching pad for touring the Loire and Loir Valley Chateaus and wineries.

I cannot recommend the place more highly. It provides exceptional value compared to hotels.

We are delighted that our very first American visitors had such a good experience. It is always difficult to know what people from other lands expect by way of standards of comfort and equipment in a holiday home. We thank I,R & X for their kind remarks.
It is very true that although we are in a very rural area, we are also very central so within a matter of minutes you can be visiting delightful tourist attractions such as Chateaux, Churches, local Towns, Roman ruins and Neolithic sites and the larger, more famous sites and cities are in many cases less than 1 hour's drive from us.

“A good experience”
Reviewed February 2, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

This house is situated in one of the great wine-producing regions of France. We bought a good deal of wine for personal use direct from the vineyards which is what we set out to do.
The house is very convenient for travel to the south of England in a day. It is also quite centrally located for the vineyards where the wine is vastly superior to any supermarket.
Visiting in January meant the weather was inclement but the house was warm and welcoming and had everything we needed
We would be happy to repeat this experience at any time of year.

We are delighted that T & C enjoyed their stay, especially as they stayed in January. It is wonderful to get such a great 'Winter' review, just to underline that our gites are available year round. 'Wine hunting' is one of our favourite activities too; we didn't doubt that T&C would find something to their taste. We would welcome them back any time!

“A perfect home from home”
Reviewed September 17, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

La Petit Bosquet is a hidden gem, with all the comforts of home but within easy reach of plenty of day trip destinations. The cottage was clean and comfortable, tastefully furnished and in a lovely peaceful setting. We booked on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed - the hosts, Lis and Mike, made us feel very welcome and invited us into their own home (2 doors away, so at hand should you need them) for drinks - by the time we left at the end of the week we felt as though we were leaving friends! The location has the benefit of being on the edge of a small village, hence quiet and restful, but only 1-1.5 hours' drive away from a number of interesting destinations - we visited Le Mans (recommended only for the medieval part of the city - the rest is rather characterless), the chateau and fantastic Festival des Jardins (an annual event lasting most of the summer) at Chaumont-sur-Loire, the beautiful formal gardens and chateau at Villandry, the numerous caves in Saumur where we enjoyed tasting the Loire wines and attended a wonderful public performance by the Cadre Noir horses and their riders, and a nice leisurely lunch at La Grand Bleu restaurant (recommended). The threat of rain (which in fact didn't materialise) didn't bother us too much as we knew we would be happy spending some time relaxing in Le Petit Bosquet if we couldn't get out. All in all, a lovely holiday in a great gite. We hope to return!

We are so pleased that R & J enjoyed their stay. Many thanks for the wonderful review. We try to include the little things such as information about very local, low-key activities, to get a true flavour of our chosen home and also offering advance shopping, customised 'Things to do & see' selection pack as well as our welcome gifts so that your holiday is as stress free as we can possibly make it! Perhaps next time R & J may manage more of the cycling they wanted to do - the weather was just too good this time!
