“Fabulous, tranquil haven in a beautiful setting”
Reviewed April 15, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

My husband, 14 year old son and I spent a wonderful week in this gorgeous Spanish villa - lovingly decorated by Maria and Mateo who were perfect hosts. Villa Eden is huge and spotlessly clean with two superb private terraces overlooking a large pond and a large garden/field plus enclosed area by the pool. The shower is wonderful! There is another smaller cottage next to it but you are not overlooked at all (there was no-one occupying it while we were there).

The shared pool looked beautiful but sadly was being cleaned and was empty, which disappointed my son as this was one of the reasons we had chosen the villa. However, it was early in the season and the weather was not great so even if it had been full it would have been far to cold to swim in! However, Maria and Mateo did compensate us for this by treating us to lunch one day which was really kind of them as the weather was beyond their control!

They have 4 dogs - two of whom are quite large - but they are all completely soppy and very friendly and kept my son and I entertained with their antics! The birdlife was wonderful here - highlights were the swallows, kingfisher, black kites, night herron and hoopoo - all in the garden.

Miravet itself is a beautiful medieval village - the old part along the river. is particularly nice. Don't miss the traditional bakers (Forn de pa Vives) - fabulous bread and the lightest croissants), the castle, the pottery museum at Ceramiques Ferran (opposite the property) and the pas de barca (ferry). Further afield we explored the mountains, visited the Delta L'Ebre and visited the mountain top village of Siurana (fantastic views) where we had a lovely lunch at Restaurant La Serra in Cornudella de Montsant (the village below) - great food, English owner and very friendly, English speaking staff - it is on the edge of the village behind the fire station. They produce their own olive oil and wine which are delicious. We also went to Barcelona for the day by train from Mora La Nova which was very easy - 2h 15 minutes, 12 euros each way - not many trains though! Highly recommend a visit to Barcelona - lovely city. All in all a wonderful week exploring Catalonia and we would love to return to this little haven but maybe a bit later in the year when the weather is warmer!

“A wonderfully spacious home with delightful hosts”

Miravet is an enchanting village in Cataloña, on the threshold of the Priorat wine region. It has its own castle - initially built by the Moors but later re-structured by the Templars - and a wonderful labyrinth of old cobbled streets snaking up the hillside. Maria's house is on the outskirts of the village within easy walking distance of the river and the old town but comfortably placed for visitors who need to park a car and wish to use the swimming pool. The house itself is large and very well equipped and has a lovely atmosphere and this is no doubt helped by the charm and warmth of Maria and her helpers. She was very attentive to our needs whilst always respecting our privacy and gave us excellent advice on Miravet and its surroundings. For those that decide to stay in this delightful villa, we would recommend a day spent wine tasting in the Priorat (with guided tours of the Scala Dei cellars and the smaller vineyard of Joan Ametller being a particular highlight) and another day spent visiting the village of Siruana perched on its rocky crag.

“Beautiful Villa, Lovely Grounds, a Very Relaxing stay was had by all....”

My wife and I, along with our teenage daughter stayed here mid february and had a great time. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We would have no hesitation recommending this holiday villa. The house itself was beautiful with clean and stylish furnishings. The photos on this site do not really do the house justice. It is very private with two covered ouside areas to choose from and onsite parking. We plan on returning to the area in the next few months and plan on staying here again.
Thank you very much Maria and Matteo.
