We traveled on a buy a gift voucher. this is a large country hose converted to a hotel. It has a very good restaurant. It has a small swimming pool with a suana (was working properly due to the door not closing properly)
Our room had a balcony with beautiful views.
Bar food is very good as well as the restaurant. Good location for walking and discovering the history of the area

After an initial blip with our reservation, which was quickly and efficiently rectified by Abigail, we had a very enjoyable stay.
Our room was quite and had a lovely view over the cricket pitch down to the River Tyne.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
Stayed on a Travelzoo voucher and was exceptional value for money.

Room tip: Rooms to rear of hotel have lovely views.

Lovely walks around the hotel, very friendly and professional staff, our room was well furnished and comfortable.
we would recommend staying here if you are visiting Hadrians Wall as One of the old forts is not far away.

Visited here on a Travelzoo deal which was great value
Our room was very spacious with a huge comfy bed, tv, well stocked tea tray, plenty of storage, nice bathroom and a balcony with good views. Furniture is a bit faded but all very clean.
Food was excellent with a good choice we had 2 very good courses each night, all fresh and hot, there is a bar and terrace too.very good breakfast with good variety of cereals, fruit yoghurt and good size full English. Staff were very pleasant and friendly , there is. Pool too but didn’t use it.
It’s on outskirts of small village with a couple of pubs, didn’t visit s stayed in hotel in the evening.
Hotel is dog friendly too.

So we stayed in the self catering apartments which I believe are only managed by the hotel and not provided, but in any event they are beyond poorly decorated and appointed.

The apartment stank when we walked in and when moving the kids beds in the twin room we found a used kit kat wrapper and dead flies/spiders (although everything was shallowly clean it hasn’t been deep cleaned for a while)!

It was like stepping back in time to the 1970’s with teak wood everywhere, nothing matching and TVs from my childhood that I didn’t know you could still buy!

The water is hit and miss, the heating is good as is the size of the place. It was lovely having a balcony but not much point when the flimsy plastic chairs are broken and the balcony is shared with next door! If you have two exploring dogs and next door have their balcony doors open they’re in for a fright!

It drove me mad that no hoover had been provided and with two kids and two dogs I felt like I was living in squalor for four days! Topped off by mouldy tiling and peeling paint everywhere.

The hotel is as everyone says VERY tired and needs some serious investment - whilst I appreciate some rooms have been done the communal areas are dark and dingy. All the woodwork is rotting in the pool BUT it WAS warm in the pool which I had been nervous about!
