Recently opened having converted the old and tired original roadside pub. Nearly a total rebuild, stylish, nicely furnished, with plenty of tables. Quality food - the Assiette of fish and Sea Bass (huge) are definitely recommended. All the staff were pleasant and attentive. Only consideration is that it is obviously popular and therefore busy and not your quiet and intimate meal if that is what you are after - however the food is great - approx £75 for 3 courses with a couple of drinks. The Bears Paw, part of the same Restaurant chain, is less busy (though in demand) and has equally quality food.

Having visited and stayed at the other Nelson Pubs around Cheshire we had to try the Fish Pool after the renovations. The pub is fantastic, what a job they have done both inside and out. The food and service was spot on!
This place is well worth a visit as it a credit to your other pubs!

After all the renovations we decided to try an evening meal. The car parking, grounds and the alterations to the building are quite inpressive.I ordered large fish chips and mushy peas, when presented it looked very impressive, the fish had not been drained of fat and placed on top of the hand cut chips resulting in fatty chips, the mushy peas were like pea soup and the tartare sauce tasted odd,not like any tasted before. My wife was not happy with the smell of burnt wood,I take it that was the new ovens !.Overall quite disappointing,we will give it a miss for a while.

Had a lovely lunch with my mum and daughter. Children are well catered for but the atmosphere remained calm and relaxed!! Good choice of food and knowledgable staff. Beautiful decor and seems no expense has been spared. Excellent service. Staff seem proud to work there and are very friendly and attentive. Have booked to go back to celebrate my husbands birthday. Cant wait! If they get an outdoor seating area it will be perfect!

We went early on a Monday evening. Really impressive new Inn. The decor and ambience is fantastic. The staff were efficient, friendly and the whole restaurant seemed to run very smoothly. The drinks we ordered were great with a choice of real ales and decent wines. The food was nice but average and I felt a little overpriced. On the whole it's tasty, well presented food and the service is of a high standard.
