“Gone up in the world!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

We have lived in the area for some time and had given up going there but when we heard there were new owners we gave it another try, well 2 to be exact once for lunch and again for dinner.

The ambience is much improved with a complete refurbishment of the restaurant.

The food was of excellent quality with very generous portions.

“Jewel in the crown of Chef-Boutonne”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

I have a house in Chef-Boutonne and my wife and I really value this place. The food is exceptional, almost all the staff speak pretty decent English and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality. My mother-in-law is very picky about what she eats, so if I know we're going to eat there, I drop by in advance and ask if they'll do something simple for her. They're always delighted to oblige. Their menu changes fairly regularly and is a definite step up in quality and value from how it used to be under the previous owner. And his food was pretty good, too.
The current owners, Brice and Flossy (yes, Flossy!) are young and enthusiastic with a lively sense of humour and the rest of the staff are very friendly as well.
You'll always be sure of a great dining experience at The Hotel Des Voyageurs.

“Rude bar staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

Have eaten there several times before and always had a lovely meal, the meal last night was ok but what really spoiled the evening was the young lady working behind the bar, she never acknowledged us when we walked in and was more interested in her friends, we asked if we could dine and she replied "no, not for five minutes," we then sat outside thinking she would let us know when the restaurant opened but she didn't and we had to make our own way in and felt a bit awkward on entering the dining area.

“Change not always best”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Used to use this place fairly regularly by way of being local(ish) and really good food, (though sometimes a little pricey)
Then it changed management (reasons not important) and I won't go there again, even to the Bar attached.
Surly service, food gone down hill (but still pricey), so cannot really recommend spending your money. Try JOS across the square. Good food, reasonable prices, varied menu and great pizzas with very friendly service.
