Sad to report the Taj has sunk to "average" in our estimation.
We wrote a review of the Taj Brasserie at the end of 2012. Having just moved to the area we were excited to find an Indian takeaway that offered such food. BUT.... (please read on)
We are vegetarians, so can only judge on the non-meat dishes. During our first few months here the veggies dishes were superb. Not just some onion and potato in a brown sauce.. they put in real FRESH vegetables and each dish was distinct in its look, texture and flavours. We have been really happy to have a decent size takeaway about once a month.
HOWEVER we have twice had takeaways in June 2013 which in which the food was no better than a below average Indian takeaway.
Maybe there's been a change of chef?
NOW the paneer curry and Jalfrezi are just the same brown sauce with a few extras thrown in (paneer chunks in one and green chillis in the other). Both were mostly onion, like LOTS of onion, and a couple of lumps of potato.
Very disappointing and certainly not something to get the taste buds going on a Friday night.
Please Taj Brasserie (if you read this) - what has happened?
(note: We were so sad at this decline, we wanted to send them feedback direct to let them know they have somehow ruined their reputation.. but there's no email or feedback link on their website)
