“Great location to Durdle Door, Weymouth, Bournemouth, and Poole”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We were greeted very nicely from the owners. The location is perfect to visit Durdle Door, Weymouth, Bournemouth, and Poole. We ate dinner at the Ship Inn (highly recommended) in Wool.
The room was comfortable with a double bed and a single bed with ensuite shower.
We ate breakfast out in the garden. My son, husband, and I enjoyed the lovely weather outside. The farmer's breakfast (English Breakfast) was scrumptious! We started with coffee, tea, juice, fruit, and toast. The full breakfast was deliciously prepared and sitting at our garden table within minutes. My son loved the scrambled eggs. My husband and I enjoyed the full breakfast that was FIVE STAR rating!!! The owners are very friendly, and provide appropriate attentiveness to all.

We came to camp in June and found the site really laid back. We were a group of young friends, couples, families and dogs. We were all made very welcome by the owner and we were pointed in the direction of where to pitch and told to have fun. We booked a camp fire on the first evening which was great but at £5 per head per night, it actually worked out quite pricey. We couldn't work out why you paid per person as all fire pits were the same size! I also heard the price per dog varied?! We had to cut and collect the wood from the wood store and pile it in a wheelbarrow which was all part of the experience! The facilities were very basic but good enough and the location and staff were great. I've paid similar prices for other sites with better facilities but the atmosphere here was lovely.

After spending a week on the Cornish Coast we decided to drive to Dorset to spend a couple of days visiting some of the beauty spots that my husband had frequented as a Child. We also thought it would be marvellous fun to take our 4 year old to Monkey World!!! So in honesty it was with trepidation that I looked for a B&B knowing that whilst many B&Bs will accept dogs, often children under 5 are not readily welcomed. I was pleased when Lesley confirmed that they had availability for us and the boy was very welcome. On arrival we were greeted at the end of a long drive, late in the evening by a very helpful and approachable man (John) who showed us our room after asking if we needed help with any bags. The room was lovely - very clean, comfy and had a modern en-suite. But what amazed us was the view!!! Wow!!! And with the sun just setting we all agreed what a wonderful place Luckford is and how lovely it must be to live in this area in such a nice house. I completely agree with other comments - breakfast is the best my husband has had and I think he had been spoilt!! I personally found myself relax for once - which is something I struggle to do (ever). I really love the fact Lesley is so sincere and obviously knows how to make guests feel comfortable, she makes it all look so easy to do, we were made so welcome that our little boy even asked if we could stay for 'lots of more day's' and even slept in his own bed all night - which he hasn't done in 4 years yet - so it must be comfortable (as the pics show!!)

We have stayed at Luckford twice now; each time we have taken the campervan and enjoyed four days of beautiful countryside, quite camping spots and a nightly fire. Amenities are adequate - toilets and warm showers and the local pub is a two mile stroll away. We found John to be very relaxed and courteous and he even helped us to get our new awning on the campervan in the pouring rain!

Room Tip: If you need a hook up, you are more limited but if you don't there are some very private camping...

We have just returned from our sixth visit to Lesley & John's B&B.
They cannot make you feel more at home with a welcome tea/coffee & cake. All the rooms in the house are clean, well furnished and comfortable, all with ensuite. Breakfast is 'to die for', cooked to order using fresh local produce. You would be hard pressed to not find something to suit your pallet. The conservatory and garden area are free to use with tea always available. Its the perfect base for visiting South Dorset and its attractions. Real value for money.

Just spent a lovely weekend at Luckford Wood House. John and Lesley were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. Lesley's freshly cooked breakfasts were huge and you could choose what you would like. The rooms were very homely, comfy and quiet just what you would need for a weekend away. We spent an enjoyable hour or so sitting in the garden, which is also part of the experience, drinking a glass of wine. It was a pleasure to have free garden access too.

Room Tip: Room 4 was lovely and room 5 has a huge ensuite.

Luckford wood house also represents luckford leisure campsite, we booked 2 nights, 4 people, 2 tents & 1 fire, we were charged £65, thinking that we would be it, we come back from the trip to find out they took an additional £30, they say it was for the cost of the fire.... Nice for the lady who took the booking to inform us.
