A Lakeview Heights Bed & Breakfast

My fiance and I just returned from our second stay with Mike and Anne at "A Lakeview Heights Bed & Breakfast" and I'm sure it won't be our last!

-Accommodation: We stayed in the Lakeview Room which offered gorgeous views of the lake, a private terrace and contemporary decor. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the wine glasses, bottle opener and cheese plate for a late night snack in your room to the luxurious bedding and towels.

-Food: The breakfasts were outstanding. Fresh Okanagan fruit every morning and main courses that rival any 5 star restaurant.

-Company: Above all, this is what will keep us coming back to a Lakeview Heights. Mike and Ann are the most wonderful, hospitable people and obviously they attract others like them! We so enjoyed the company of the other couples staying at the bed and breakfast, that we often stayed chatting long after breakfast was finished.

If you're considering staying at a b&b, look no further.

We were in Kelowna for a friend's wedding at her parents' house nearby. We received a warm welcome by name upon arrival, and were shown to our room - we stayed in the 'garden view' room, the smallest of the 3, but still very comfortably roomy and of course quiet.

The first night we had dinner reservations at Quail's Gate Restaurant (more or less at the bottom of the 'hill' - and was EXCELLENT, btw, if pricey). We were intending to walk and asked roughly how long that might take, and Mike instantly offered to drop us off! Not only that, when we left I forgot my purse there and he drove it down to my friend's parents' place, as we mentioned we were dropping by there on our way to the airport - a BIG thanks for that!!!

Breakfasts were 3-course extravaganzas (fruit, cereal, hot 'main', eg eggs benny, Belgian waffles), and I've never seen such beautiful plating in a b+b - Anne clearly takes pride and care in this and is excellent at it. Did I mention the food was very good as well - and you can't beat raspberries fresh from the garden.

We were fortunate to have very enjoyable company for breakfast as well - two couples from Alberta. Our hosts joined us for coffee after we finished eating and we all stayed around the table chatting for quite a while - despite some ubiquitous albeit good-natured ribbing about people from Toronto! It was all good fun.

The only reason I give location a '4' is that it depends on what you want. It's great for wineries on the west shore (v close to Mission Hill, Quail's Gate...), and there are some restaurants relatively close by - though if walking it's quite a hike and there are fairly significant inclines involved one way or the other. If you're not drinking much, then you can always drive, and taxis are an option.

My husband and I stayed in the lovely Lakeview Room. It has a great view, nice bath, a fridge and microwave plus plates, cups, utensils and a coffeemaker. The house is pristine (you will be asked to take off your shoes at the front entrance), the wonderfully prepared food is tailored to your needs, but the absolute best part of our stay was the hosts, Anne and Mike. They are amazing-warm, generous, great conversationalists and very knowledgeable. It is obvious that they love people and what they do.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here in July in the Panorama Room. We were only there 2 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. Anne and Mike made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home. Anne's breakfasts were amazing! Fresh fruit, muesli, yogurt, different juices each morning, and an amazing egg dish one morning and waffles with fresh fruit the next. Yum! Loved the view of the Okanagan Lake from our balcony and breakfast table. The evening drink was a nice touch to relax and enjoy the view and learn more about the area from Mike and Anne. Also, their place is within walking distance to Mission Hill Winery and very close to Quail's Gate Winery (which also has a wonderful restaurant). The room is set up to enjoy some of the Okanagan wines and cheese (wine opener, cheese knive, glass cutting board) plus a refrigerator and microwave...too bad we didn't have time to take advantage of these amenities.

Anne & Mike welcomed us into their home and gave us great advice about the local attractions. We stayed in the Lakeview room, which was very welcoming, clean and spacious with a fabulous view! If you are looking for a home away from home, this is the place. We looked forward to a delicious breakfast each morning and enjoyed the personal touches by our hosts. We will definitely be back!

We cannot praise this B&B enough. We stayed for 4 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We certainly intend to return next year - especially for our golfing challenge with Anne and Mike!
From the start of our stay Anne and Mike made us so welcome. Our room (Panorama) was beautiful with a lovely view over the lake, the room was large and the bed huge and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and spacious.
We had breakfast on the deck 3 out of the 4 mornings with lively conversation with the other guests. Anne and Mike sat down with us to join in the chat when they had finished serving which was friendly and sociable. The breakfasts themselves were a work of art - so beautifully presented, and they tasted as good as they looked!
It was extremely good value and we would have no reservations recommending A Lakeview Heights to anyone.
