“Food- Not worth it”
Reviewed July 20, 2014 via mobile

Me and my friends decided to have our dinner at Drymades Inn based on how well its advertised.

Unfortunately, we did a bad choice.

Firstly, they had a very limited choice of wine.
Secondly, the portions are not worth at all their prices. I ordered a rocket leaves salad with parmiggiano and cherry tomatoes and it literally had 2 chery tomatoes and 3thin parmiggiano slices. Even the rocket leaves were too limited. My friend had seafood linguini and in her opinion it is better cooked anywhere else. Such a shame not enjoying your seafood by the sea.
On top of it, the food quality is poor (or the chef is not the right choice).
Lastly, electricity went out twice and they could not manage to print us the bill. I know its not the resorts fault but measures should be taken.

Nevertheless, the view, the location and the service is very very good. The waitress were very nice and helpful.

We never stay at Drymades Inn considering their prices are a bit too high, but we always eat our breakfast here. There is a very nice selection of food, plus scenery- what an amazing way to start your day!

P.S. I do understand ppl being upset with flying creatures, midges especially, but part of the beauty of this area is also natural conditions :) So wave a bit over your plates from time to time... It's not like there are many early in the morning ;)

Ok, we didn't stay at the hotel but made the most of the hotel pool, bar and restaurant as the one where we stayed was less than inviting. The location is perfect right on the beach with great views. The staff vey friendly, courteous and helpful. Even though we didn't have a room there was never a problem using the pool sun beds. They were getting sent up for the summer period and the lounge bar looked very relaxing.

The menu is typical of the region, pasta and simple fish dishes. Breakfast included fruit, juice and choices of eggs. We came here each day for breakfast. If we could have we would have stayed here.

I stayed at Drymades Inn Complex with my family (wife, children and my parents) for one night (21-21 of June 2014). Everything was perfect the rooms were clean, reconstructed, air conditioning (I stayed in one duplex apartment), the bathroom was clean, the flat TV had also channels for kids. the price was very reasonable. The staff and the administrator Xheni were very polite and helpful, (they allow us to make a late checkout), the breakfast was good. During our stay they were also finishing the parking area for cars just behind the hotel. The bar and the restaurant are nice and the see view from both of them is fantastic. Also the nature and the environment within the complex with olive trees flowers and narrow stone roads were very nice. I definitely recommend this hotel.

I was there last year for an off-season offer. It was a nightmare...

We arrived at night and there was only one waiter for the whole "Complex". They didn't even have a computer to register our booking and we were left to wait for one hour until the waiter solved it by phone calls.

The walls of the room were dirty of smashed mosquitos and blood from previous guests...The shower fixtures had mucus and rust stains. There was no menu for breakfast and we were either served yoghurt or eggs fried in big amounts of cheap oil.

The nerve-wrecking moment was the day when we were supposed to brunch included in the price and we were not served. First the waiters didn't let us know the time of serving, saying: Brunch will be served when the chef decides. We ask again, hours later, only to be told rudely that brunch was closed as it was past noon. After we protested for the misinformation by the staff, we were served brunch, but incredibly billed for it, although it was supposed to be free.

Let's not forget the empty pool with some inches of stinky water and frogs in the caffetteria and the day when the waiters didn't even bother keeping some teen clients from harassing frogs in front of us.

And to put a cap on it, there was the owner who tried not to return 100Lek (about 1 USD) of change when we were checking out...

I know the owners wont like this review, but If they want, they can contact me in private and we can confront the facts better. I have uploaded more than 15 pictures to support my review and to let the others know what a misery this place is..I live in Albania and this is almost a national shame when thinking of all the foreign tourists visiting the south and paying expensive prices for such bad service!

We decided to spend our 2 last nights in Albania in the Drymades Inn...very bad choice!!! the young man at the reception was very unfriendly and he badly behaved with us, without any reason of course!every time we tried to speak with him or ask something was annoyed. We had the feeling of not being welcome in the hotel! Also other people of the staff were not smiling and not helpfull at all. So anything about tipical albanian ospitality and the atmosphere was not what you expect in an holiday place...it'a a pity because the location and the beach are great! The structure seems to be very old and uncared even if the chalet are nice and quite well equipped. Was not possible to relax on the swimming pool because in was dirty and not even relax on the beach because there was rubbish everywhere, even all around some sundeds.
The breakfast was quite good but anything exellend. Only juice for drink, no coffe or tea, anything. Our departure morning we had to leave quite early but we were sure we could have our payed breakfast because in the reception there was written from 8.00 but...the breakfast room was desert at that time, some time later we met a man from the staff that told us the breakfast was not ready before 8.30-8.35! so we expleyed that we had to leave and no one from the staff apologise with us or tried to be quick to bring the food on the buffet table. Nobodies cared about that, some of the staff just smocked or chatted in very calm way. At 8.45 only the juice was on the table, so we had to leave with empty stomach and we couldn't have the breakfast we payed. Nobodies apologised with us. This is not acceptable, mainly in an hotel that is very expensive for Albanian standard! and it was even not possible to pay with a card, only cash! i dont reccomand this place at all....i'm really sorry because the location by the beach and in front of the mountain is really good!

Being aware of the fact that generally there is no consolidated culture of tourism services in the southern beaches of Albania, I did not have much expectations before visiting this hotel for a couple of days with my family. However the staff managed to reach new lows that I could have never expected even in this region.

Check-in: they say it is at 1:00 PM. At this time, they did not have ready any of the rooms we had booked. Since this is acceptable (for the reasons mentioned above), we went to the beach and later to the restaurant to have lunch. At 3:30 PM they said that only one of the rooms was still not ready to accommodate us BECAUSE the guests told the reception they wanted to leave the room at 5:00 PM and later they were not answering the phone. We had to raise our voice and the guy at the reception (I totally understand his difficulty to deal with the pseudo-VIPs of the media) was obliged to give us another room. During the two days of stay there was no cleaning, while there were not enough towels and bath articles in the rooms. We asked several times for more towels and managed to get them in the final night.

Restaurant: Very promising in the menu also due to the presence of an Italian cook. Prices very acceptable. HOWEVER the service surprised me even more than I expected. It was not so busy, but still the kitchen managed to send to our table one dish every 10 minutes, allowing some to finish eating and some to starve or be helped with food from the lucky ones. I complained to the Italian guy and the best thing he could manage to do was to aggressively deal with the poor waiter for us to see. There was no wine list, so I asked for a price, agreed for that one and in the bill I was given another price (although the waiter apologized for the inconvenience after I reminded him the fact). The breakfast (included in the room price) was impossible to be spent on the veranda due to the millions of wasps bothering the food and the customers, while inside you had to wait for three people to finish eating on an eight-people table in order to have breakfast.

I would say this was a poor (close to terrible) experience only because the small wooden rooms and the landscaping were very nice (not the parking area with the cows and the lack of aesthetics) around the hotel. For the price they charge, I would say it is not worth even for its pool (change the water once in a while, please, because it had a yellowish shade).

In general, I had very low expectations, but left highly disappointed because this hotel managed to go even beyond those. Of course this facility is not recommended for people who care about their hard-earned money.

Room Tip: Try to get one on the first line in front of the pool and the bar, because you can also see the sea.
