“Delicious Sunday Lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

The atmosphere in this pub was very friendly and welcoming - and it turns out we were lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked and most of the tables had reserved signs on them!
Even though we were looking for a traditional Sunday roast it was good to see that the menu had some very good options on it - including for vegetarian diners. We all chose the beef and it was delicious, it was served with swede, parsnip, cabbage, broccoli, baby carrots, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and yorkshire pudding - we certainly weren't hungry afterwards!
We will definitely return to The Queens Head - and will book next time to make sure we get in as we'd be disappointed to be turned away!

“Will share a sandwich next time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Very nice pub just outside Cambridge. Very friendly welcome and the food was pretty good, with large portions. Home made soup was delicious and the sandwich with chips very generous portion that would be fine for two with smaller appetite. Would definitely stop by here again.

“Well priced pub grub in a very pleasant pub”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

We stopped here as a break whilst driving down the M11. The restaurant area is quite pleasant and tastefully decorated.

For lunch we ordered fish and chips, a jacket potatoe and a kids ham egg and chips

The fish and chips had to be sent back as the fish wasn't quite right. The staff were apologetic and replaced the meal with scampi which was very good. The jacket potatoe was ok but clearly kept warm or reheated. The kids meal was great though. Plus the chips are great!

The three meals and three drinks came to just over £20 so was quite reasonably priced.

We also went for dessert. An apple pie and lemon meringue (£7.90 total). Both were good and filling.

Would generally recommend this pub as a good place to eat and drink with friendly staff and that is happy to accept children.

“Typical English Pub”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

This Family Sunday lunch was our first visit in a couple of years and the pub appeared to be under new management. Everyone seemed happy enough with the quality of the food and perhaps the over generous portions! It appears to be a pub in transition, a very long way from being a gastro pub, stuck presently as a typical ‘old school 1980’s‘pub Chips with everything menu apart from the Sunday roasts! Vegetables appeared fresh and Service was good.
If your expectations are for a good value pub meal they will be met but that is about where it ends, only real negative was the general cleanliness of tables and drinking glasses is very poor.
