Summary: The View is world class! Only 4 stars as the room was very cold.

The Lake Hawea Hotel is in a perfect location (you cannot imagine a better view!) and the staff was really friendly and helpful.
We arrived very late due to a delayed flight and they still organized late dinner for us.
We stayed in a room with mezzanin, so that we (parents) had the ground floor and our daugther had upstairs.
In the morning, the view of the lake was just gorgeous!
We had the breakfast, again the staff was caring for us, bringing refills as unplanned guests joined for breakfast. It felt like a nice family run business.
The Room itself was a nice, clean and felt cozy.
We decided to give 4 stars only as our room was not only cold at night, but also could not be heated properly until the morning. It was July, so not unexpected to have some chills, but the floor was freezingly cold in the morning and contributed to be getting a cold.

Room Tip: take the rooms with lake view!

Rooms 1 to 8 overlook the lake, fantastic views. Our room was spotlessly clean and so much more than we expected for the price. The bar and restaurant has 2 log fires and the meal we had was superb (48hr slow cooked roast lamb)
The staff went out of their way to provide great service. Was a very memorable stay and highly recommend
Cheers Paul and Julie

Me and my husband stopped for some breakfast. Had a lovely cooked cooked breakfast and hot drinks. Very delicious and filling. The view onto the lake was stunning whilst we ate. Service was friendly, a little slow but nice enough.

I do feel the whole place is a bit run down and could do with an update and the photos online were a bit miss leading, in saying that the people were really nice and the meal was pretty good in the restaurant.
The bed was a bit disturbing, it was super high and seemed to be made out of to single beds in boxes. The rooms were spacious, neat and tidy and all we needed for a stop over, the view from our room was amazing.

We were on our way to Wanaka. Stopped here for lunch. We've had a chicken fettucine and a the fish of the day. Really delicious. We sat at a table close to the window with the lakes view. Very nice place to make a break
