“great place to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2011

We booked this very late - we were already on the island and wanted somewhere to chill after spending some time in the main city. Annita's Village Hotel fitted the bill perfectly and because of the late booking we got a great deal on the price. Our room was lovely, clean and pretty bed linen, pictures on the wall etc. The balcony was very big and overlooked the pool, which is kept immaculately. We had fresh new fluffy towels both days we were there. The breakfast was good and as it was a buffet you could go back and get more as many times as you wanted. All the staff were friendly, the lady who picked us up and dropped us back at the port (who we think was the owner but we didn't check this) was very attentive.

Yes, there were insects but the hotel cannot be held responsible for that. Further, they were NOT mosquitos, just little flies that only last for one day. We take a lot of precautions with regard to mosquitos because we are both quite allergic to their bites. However, we did not see any mosquitos nor did we sustain any mosquito bites while staying here. That said, if you're not sure what a mosquito looks like and are worried, there is a mosquito repellant machine and spare cartridges in the room should you wish to avail yourself of it.

In short, highly recommended.

On booking this hotel my partner and I asked over and over again for a double not a twin room and we were assured, by the travel agent, it would be a double room. When we arrived, late at night, we were shown to a small and grubby twin with the world's tiniest balcony in an otherwise empty hotel. On complaining it took many arguments (over one hour at from 11.45pm onwards) with the very rude hotel manager before we were shown another twin near the pool (that one smelt of damp and was very dark with only one tiny window) and a double overlooking the pool. The only problem was that they wanted to charge extra for the double room. We stuck to our guns and told the manager we had paid for a double so wanted a double, which is what we begrudgingly got. The room we were given had a lovely balcony and was reasonably clean. The towels were hard and old. The bedding was clean. At night the room was over-run with mosquitos, so we had to get through a LOT of insect repellent just to sleep.
The location of the hotel was good and very close to a car rental place, which made getting around the island very easy. The pool at the hotel is nice but had many insects floating around in it. We did not try the breakfast included in the price as neither of us wanted to come face to face with the manager again.
The hotel is worth the price, as we got it very cheap from a local travel agent, just for a clean room, but if you were to pay full price for what seemed like the only double room in the hotel then it is NOT worth it. The manager is horrible and very, very rude and the rest of the staff are cold and unfriendly.

I spent 3 nights in this hotel at the mid of August. Before everything I would like to mention that my profession is Hotel Assistant.
The positive thing was that the room was renovated and spacious, but on the other hand the housekeeping didn't exist. In the bathroom there were no curtains with result after a shower the floor to be very slippery and dangerous and water to invade in the other rooms. The towels were really old and hard. During the evening and night millions of mosquitos were covering all the outside walls, windows and door of the room and many of them were entering the room under the door. In the room there was no machine for the mosquitos so that to have bites all over our bodies.
The housekeepers only changed towels every day but they didn't mop or sweep so that hundreds of dead mosquitos to be around of our beds.
The breakfast was very poor, there was no refill even after complaints and the owner was very rude.
To cut a long story short, I wouldn't suggest you to book and spend your vacations there.
Very expensive for no service, quality and cleanness.
