The pub is "hidden" in the narrow Water Lane - away from the hustle-bustle of the shopping street of Richmond and close to the riverside. Just across the street from the Curzon cinema.
The pub decor is basic, the size is small and the place is old.
When we visited after a wet, cold walk along the river, the fireplace was going and we found it interesting that they served Thai food in a place like this. We were positively surprised by the quality and taste of the Thai food we ordered.
The place looked like it is frequented by many locals and the ambiance was very friendly and neighborly. We enjoyed it and will be back.

The Watermans Arms is hidden away in a narrow cobbled lane on the way down to the banks of the Thames.

It is a small, cozy pub with an open fire, models and photographs of Thames sailing barges scattered around and a friendly welcome coming from both staff and customers.

The range of drinks available is excellent with Youngs own beers being particular good.

The bar staff were efficient, friendly and informative, willing to chat when not serving.

For a delightful and relaxing hour or so on a cold day this little pub would be hard to beat

Myself and two colleagues came here after a long day (arrival from US) looking for a quintessential pub. I had read it was one of the oldest in Richmond and the location near the river was intriguing. The downstairs area was mostly full, with people (football fans?) spilling out onto the street but we saw a sign for the Thai restaurant upstairs. As I have all week here to eat "pub food" we gave it a try. We were all VERY pleased with our dishes! The yellow curry was perfect, and my friends said their dishes (sweet & sour pork and red curry with tofu) were delicious as well. We ordered our drinks downstairs and brought them up. Service was good, better than typical around here I think. I would recommend this place either for a pint or a plate.

Watermans Arms cannot be described as plush by any stretch of the imagination. However it had a lot of character and is one of the oldest pub in Richmond upon Thames. it is very friendly and serves nice food, well worth a visit.
