Good location near the park.
Rooms furnished to a high standard - although our double room was smallish

Inward recetion not great (George) - needs a bit of customer service training
Outward reception very good (Emma) - shows how it's done properly

Overall though it's a nice hotel

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel through a Secret Escapes deal, and although I was hesistant after reading several negative reviews I had an amazing stay here!

My boyfriend had rung the night before to ensure that we had a room on the first floor or above which the receptionist was very helpful with, and also informed us that we had received a complimentary upgrade to a suite. Check-in was pleasant and the room was gorgeous! Our only minor complaint would be that you could hear a bit of noise from the room above and the lack of tv channels - but this is hardly anything to really complain about!

Breakfast was a lovely treat being buffet service with good quality food, and the late check-out at no extra cost was greatly appreciated. The hotel was a 10min walk from town and had a bus stop right outside the hotel as well as a beautiful view of Richmond Park. Would definitely stay here again!

The hotel has a fantastic location very close to the entrance to Ricmond Park and overlooking much of London. It is furnished to a high standard and the rooms are very comfortable and have every modern convenience. The food is wholesome and good value and the staff are particularly friendly and helpful. The Spa facilities are excellent offering opportunities for exercise, relaxation and even pampering.

Hotel is in a lovely area, right at the entrance to Richmond Park, however the walk to the train station is a good 20 minutes. The hotel itself is good quality but our check-in was awful and took ages, as the manager wasn't around and we had to wait till the night staff had located him as they hadn't found our booking. Then our room was right next to the breakfast area and was really noisy even though I had specifically requested a quiet room! We could hear people talking outside our room in the corridor and my partner had a very bad nights sleep. We complained in the morning, but the staff on duty just agreed that room 200 is a noisy room and offered no recompense or reduction on our bill. Wouldn't bother staying here again. Very poor service overall.

Room Tip: Don't have room 200!

Thank you for writing a review and I am disappointed that you did not have an enjoyable stay.
Had your reservation been in our computer system when you arrived this would have ensured you received a speedy checkin and we would also have noted your request for a quiet room.
As with most hotels we have a selection of rooms with different views and some rooms would be considered quieter than others. Room 200 does have a nice view of the hotel rear garden, but is next to the breakfast room. I have not received any comments in history regarding noise from the breakfast room, but will take your comments on board when allocating rooms in future.
Rooms in the 200's & 300's even numbers have views of the hotel rear garden.
Rooms in the 100's - lower ground floor have restricted views, but I would consider these to be the quieter rooms in the hotel. Room 113 or 112 are at the end of the corridor, so although further to walk you would not be disturbed by anyone walking along the corridor as these are the end rooms.
Thank yor for your feedback and I hope that you will stay with us again and allow the hotel the opportunity to restore your confidence and ensure a quiet room is allocated for you.

Regards

Second time we've stayed in this hotel. As previous people have said, the hotel is in a great location. Comfortable room, nice bathroom, decent bar food, convivial surroundings. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, one or two things rankled.

A bowl of the remains of somebody's room service meal remained in the corridor outside our room for two days. We left the hotel and returned later in the day amazed to see it still there. In the end I had a word with staff on reception and when we returned it had finally been removed.

The Christmas garland in the bar area had clearly seen better days as most of the baubles had fallen off. It looked a bit tatty and sad. Surely the hotel can invest in a new decoration to compliment the nice surroundings.

Thirdly on check out, we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay. These are small things in isolation but collectively they suggest that the hotel's attitude towards customer care needs re-visiting. We stayed at the Premier Inn in Cobham a few weeks previously where the staff were lovely, so polite and friendly. The Richmond Gate could do worse than follow this budget chain's example.

Thank you for writing a review and I was disappointed that certain aspects of your stay could and should have been better.
All trays should be cleared on a regular basis from all corridors. I have addressed this with the team at the hotel.
The decorations were a mixture of existing and new decorations. I will fully review all decorations pior to putting up for 2013 to ensure that the quality is of a high standard.
You should as standard been asked if you had enjoyed your stay on check-out. This has been reiterated the all receptions.
Thank you for your feedback and this will help the hotel to improve moving forward.

Regards
