“Would go again! :)”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

I was quite excited to eat out here last month. I went on a Wednesday night and it was quiet. Really liked the restaurant itself and the staff were very very attentive and friendly. We had a wine suggested to us which turned out to be rather nice too :-) As a vegetarian there were only a couple of main menu choices for me...but they both sounded appealing. However after asking the waiter which one he would suggest i went with the "Spaghetti con tartufo servito in cestino di formaggio croccante" ...and sadly was very disappointed as it was just a dish of hard pasta in a "nest"...not overly tasty im afraid but pleasant enough. My date had the rib eye steak and unfortunately it came out undercooked and needed to be sent back. Starters however were LOVELY. I had the BAKED GOATS CHEESE WRAP and recommend it!! I would definitely go back and try it again because overall i enjoyed the experience!!

“Mediocrity at its best”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

When those high prices are being charged you expect better execution and care from the kitchen. Spaghettini alla pescatore was served tepid, with pappy pasta (overcooked - woefully), overcooked, dried out shellfish and no hint of the advertised garlic or chilli. Shameful stuff. And one of the more pleasant combinations from Italy, buffalo milk mozzarella and fresh tomatoes, came (ruinously) with a sweet onion and raisin compote. Aberration. If it charged half price the kitchen would still not be excused its uncaring and odd creations but then the restaurant would seem less deceitful. Richmond is still in need of some decent, reasonably priced independent bistros and restaurants.

“Real Italian quality”
Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

A studied and careful menu using the best Italian techniques and recipes with local and available ingredients.
The wine list is truly excellent although, given the nature of the wines, they are not the cheapest on the market. However, if you want to get to know wines that are not run of the mill, thus is the place for you.
Service was the best Italian - knowledgeable and not over attentive. All round excellence.

“Good Italian food”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We ate at Bacco on Saturday evening and would def. eat there again. The people we were with had been there before and it certainly lived up to their praise. It's quite small so booking would be advisable but they do have tables outside if the weather is suitable. Not a huge menu but we prefer that (I'm always concerned when you're given a huge choice of food - how much is sitting in the freezer waiting to be micro-waved) and yet there was a good choice. There was also a 'Chefs Special' menu which we feel is another sign of a good restaurant i.e. a chef not content to churn out the same dishes day in day out. I had Kalamari for a starter and Fish and Seafood for my main. Absolutely delicious! My only mistake was to order Biscotti instead of dessert - they were quite hard and the penny dropped that they were meant to be dipped into your coffee (which I hadn't ordered!). The service was excellent and v. friendly - in spite of being packed out there was never any hint of being rushed and we were there for over 3 hours. Oh, and the wines we chose were also delicious. We'd def. eat there again.

“Italian in Richmond”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

We often eat here before going to the theatre. It's a small restaurant, so booking might be wise at the weekend. The food and service is always top notch - the calves liver is a particular favourite. A true 'local' restaurant and miles better than any of the chains.
