I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading the high praise on Trip Advisor, so sadly was a bit disappointed.

We had an aubergine dish to start which was very average - the aubergine could have done with being cooked for longer. It was tasty enough but not memorable. For mains we both had beef and potato - this was very tasty and the beef very tender. The vegetables that came with it were
tiny and hardly worth mentioning. Overall a nice comfort food dish but the sort of thing you might get in a good pub,

We shared a chocolate dessert which was good and only had soft drinks so can't comment on the wine.

The service was good but there was no ambience (we went during the week and it was very quiet). With so many other restaurants to choose from in Richmond, I probably won't return here.

We arrived at the restaurant and were shown to a very nice table. Although the menu is not extensive, there was still plenty of choice. We were given lovely battered courgettes with a sweet chilli sauce as a complementary pre-starter. I had the prawn and courgette starter and my friend the fishcakes. Both were delicious. Then we went for the cornfed chicken and sweet potatoes. Another deliciously cooked dish. For desserts we went for the sticky toffee pudding. Very lovely, with a slight ginger taste. Altogether a lovely meal. The service was good, attentive but not obtrusive.

This was a very disappointing meal. The service lacked warmth and was extremely slow. It took two and a half hours to have two courses and we were so fed up that we couldn't endure desert. The food was o.k. but bland and the presentation was nothing special.

We decided to try this restaurant after having walked past on many occasions and been attracted to the cosy looking interior. Unfortunately this was a big mistake!
The welcome was friendly and all was looking promising until we looked at our menus, never have we struggled so much to choose something that sounds nice, normally spoilt for choice. But the fixed price menu just had nothing which sounded appetising, except paella which I can make very easily at home and not what I want when having a nice meal out. The a la carte menu looked a bit more interesting, but the prices were not what we were willing to pay for a low-key Friday supper, so we forced ourselves to make a choice from the fixed price menu, hoping we'd be pleasantly surprised when the food came. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine from the pretty good wine menu which were fine. An amuse-bouche was served, which was a nice touch and very tasty - things are looking up. The starters arrive, what a disappointment. The stuffed aubergine was plain and uninteresting, the soup was watery and tasteless. On to the mains, baked mushroom with tomato and mozzarella and home made chips, and a chicken and veg dish in broth served in a nice pot. A mushroom and several other sliced vegetables with a lump of melted cheese and a few chips. The portion was small and the meal was poorly put together, something I could make at home in 5 minutes. As was the chicken dish, tasteless, uninteresting, just some soggy veg and boiled chicken floating in water. We decided we wouldn't waste any more money on dessert, the fixed menu choices equally as uninspiring, so we paid the bill and left, feeling hungry and a bit hard done by! £65 for that meal we felt was a huge waste of money, when there are so many good restaurants in the area where for that amount you would have a really decent 2 course meal and glass of wine.
As for service, this was rather strange, a waitress who had to ask twice while waving the glass around if we had finished our drink, and an older lady (presumably the owner) who spent most of the time behind the bar singing along to the rather dated music or speaking to the customers in a slightly menacing tone.
Overall a massive disappointment, which was a shame as standards these days are normally pretty good and we were treating ourselves to a nice meal out. Should have stuck with a take-away. Will never go back to this place or recommend to anyone!

We had lunch at Restaurant 109 on a roastingly hot Sunday.
We sat by the window which had been fully opened to allow any stray breezes..and enjoyed ourselves. The food was more than adequate..bruschetta and a salad of potato and cauliflower followed by sea bream with chips and peas ( madam ) and best end of lamb.. ( me.)
It was too hot for puds.
Service was warm and personable.
We liked it.
