Having read previous reviews this pub was not on our radar, however we were advised that the Sunday lunch was superb and so booked a table for the four of us and were so glad we did. The food was top drawer, we had two beef roasts and two Stilton and mushroom Wellington roasts with all the trimmings and we're full to the brim. After an hour of chatting we opted for desserts and were again more than satisfied with the food.
The service was absolutely spot on with nothing being too much trouble, laughing and joking with all of the staff. The personal touch was taken to a new level with a personal dessert made for one of our party who joked with the waitress about the crumble.
We would like to thank all of the staff for a memorable afternoon and compliments to the chef.

After a long days travel to reach our hotel they had no food to be had but the proprietor offered the Queens Arms as an alternative. Lucky us, perfectly cooked starters of River Exe mussels and a crisply baked Camembert. Elegant Sea Bass fillet and singed scallops resting in a subtle fresh curried sauce followed whilst my partner had her taste buds titillated with a roasted duck breast. All washed down with an excellent red wine. But has to be said the Butcombe bitter aperitif was really appreciated. Yes we did eat here again the following evening. Great service, really friendly staff and customers, many thanks.

Since our excellent lunch with friends in July my wife and I called in for Sunday lunch and it was so good we decided to take other friends from Wiltshire here on a day visit to sample the terrific roast beef. Mistake, the restaurant was overcrowded, everyone squeezed in, no room to get to tables and everyone hearing everyone else's conversation. The staff seemed unable to cope, the beef was stringy and tough and we were embarrassed to have spoken so highly of this venue.
We are sure this was not normal and will go back again on our own as we loved it so much before.
Good dining is all about CONSISTENCY. one needs to know what to expect.

We have been here before and today did not disappoint. None of us had the roast meal as other choices looked better. I had fish stew with bread which was lovely although it might have been better if it was served with a some vegetables. Others had beef cobbler with fresh vegetables, lasagne with garlic bread and salad, nut roast with vegetables and potatoes and sausage with mustard mash. All the food was lovely and fresh with the vegetables cooked to our taste - the beans were nice and crunchy. Profiteroles, sticky toffee pudding and ice cream were our choices for desert.

All our plates were empty after each course and although they were very busy with all tables full the service was good and the staff were friendly. The beer is also good which my husband likes and we will return again.

Had had some good food here in the past. But we artived early yesterday evening and after trying to decide from the specials board whoch Items to order, was told that 3 of the 4 selected are not available. So ended up with greasy fish n chips and chinky chilli hot out of the microwave. Not sure we can recommend anymore ir at we will return.
