“Wonderful property but needs eye to detail”
Reviewed May 2, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Everything said in the previous reviews is true. This is a wonderful conversion which is massive and really well done. Indeed the photos do not do it justice and I would not hesitate to recommend The Hide Away to you. It is in a lovely situation and perfect for an extended family (and dog!) stay and we had a really lovely time here. However...... a little touch her with reality. It is rented as 5 bedrooms but the owner herself describes the upstairs mezanine area as "ideal for families with children". This is because it is one room and indeed ideal for families but not for two couples unless you don't mind being open plan! We booked this place because it had a jacuzzi but when we tried to book it were told there is a charge which is not mentioned on this site. Places we have been before the jacuzzi has been included in the price. Then there was the standard of cleaning - thick dust on top of the speaker and piano, old lollipop and cobwebs behind the bedroom curtains, throws over stained sofas in bedroom (we were not fooled - when an owner covers something with a throw always look underneath). And then the corners in the eaves of the mezanine where you have thrown your old junk behind a screen. What is that stuff doing there? This is all true (we have the pictures but in all fairness I would not put them on. Come on, do yourself a favour, get this magnificent renovation up to the standard expected at these prices and you will be up to 5 stars! Good luck because it is a fabulous place and deserves to be the best it can be! And yes, I would still recommend this holiday rental to a friend!

Dear Guest
I have just found this review on Tripadvisor. I feel quite strongly about a few of the points you have raised in your review. Firstly I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay, thank you for your positive feedback in our guest book and to me directly on your departure which is why, quite frankly I'm surprised at the comments you left. At no time did you mention any of these points when asked on several occasions. I explained to you we have to charge for the jacuzzi as it is huge.. It holds 8- 10 people and is 2.5 mts square.. Takes 48 hrs to heat and an afternoon to drain, clean and refil not to mention the electricity to heat it and keep it at 40 degrees! We cannot rent it to everyone, another reason for charging separately. It does say on the website it is extra and you did agree with this when I pointed it out. As for the upstairs storage area.. This is where we keep extra matress, pillows and duvets. I explained this to you, it is kept neat and tidy, however, I can throw some light on the stain. I recal you had a small dog with you...I wish you had told me about this. This could have been sorted immediately. There are many throws and cushions around the house, these are there for our guests comfort not to cover anything up! we pride ourselves on keeping the house as tidy as possible, however it is easy to overlook something as it is a huge house to turnover in 4 hours, dust on a hidden speaker, while unacceptable is easily sorted. I only wish you had been more upfront about these issues when asked.
Apologies once again for late reply..

“Perfect for that "get away from it all" break or family get together.”
Reviewed April 11, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

The pictures just do not do it justice. It is spacious beyond belief, and the property has to be seen to be believed. Yet it manages to retain that lovely homely cosy feel.

We were a party of 10 including 4 children under 5, there was plenty of space for us all without getting under one another's feet. The children loved the extended space and freedom to play. Our feelings were adequately summed up by our four year old grandson, when he asked "if we could stay here for ever"!

The property is exceptionally well equipped and is ideally situated for exploring Royal Deeside and the Cairngorm national park.

Our thanks to Bea & Moose for such a wonderful time.

“Luxury accomodation”
Reviewed January 24, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

This was our second trip to the Hideaway. This is a beautifully converted steading with masses of space and very comfortable bedrooms two of which are en suite. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need for a large family gathering. Very secluded , gorgeous views and now a hot tub in a gazebo .
The owners have installed a new heating system since last time which makes the property seriously cosy. Highly recommended

“Excellent property with spectacular views”
Reviewed June 1, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Just had a great weekend with a group of friends. Well equipped property with tonnes of space, and all the gadgets and kit you could possibly want. A fabulous log burner with plentiful supply of seasoned logs as the weather was a bit cold for the end of May.
Great setting in beautiful countryside - shame we didn't get the weather for the terrace as we could all imagine ourselves there on a warm evening.
Hope to be back.
