Perkhill Holiday Cottages
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Had a fantastic 4 day break at this gorgeous cottage in september. As previously said, new , spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Mostly enjoyed the wooden stove fire and under floor heating as unfortunately we had they typical scottish weather of rain but it didnt dampen our stay. We just came for a chill out and a get away from it all break with our little dog and you certainly got that there. However if you wanted something more adventurous there is plenty to do right on your doorstep. The owners were very nice and most accomodating also. Had a great stay and would definately recommend.

We spent a great two weeks at King Duncans view in August and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The views are spectacular from the accomodation, and the good nights sleep second to none. The beds are so comfortable and the duvets so 'snuggly' (to quote my son). There were 6 of us staying at one point and there was still acres of room for everyone. It was all beautifully clean and very modern, lovely and warm, and had an excellent traditional feel with the decor. This, combined with the woodburning stove made for a fantastic atmosphere. My boys both delighted in the eco aspects of the property, especially when they got to see the two wind turbines being erected in the adjacent fields. The wet room and downstairs facilities were perfect for my son who is in a wheelchair. Also the lovely ensuite rooms upstairs made it so stress free for when there was a few of us there. All appliances worked excellently, including the swish tvs! Very important for the small people in the family! Pippa and family were great hosts and her hens laid us some delicious eggs. A truly fantastic experience was had by all. We did try to stare out their nearby prize winning Aberdeen Angus bull, but he always won!

Room Tip: They were all lovely rooms.

Thank you for your lovely review! I'm afraid the hens are on strike as the weather turns colder so no fresh eggs this week!

We had a wonderful holiday at Perkhill holiday cottages. Me and my wife, our infant son and are dog stayed for 2 weeks in this great cottage. It was new, clean, spacious, fully equipped and very comfortable.

The owners are very friendly and attentive. They supplied us with a welcoming pack and several tips and brochures on activities in the area. The sausages of their own Aberdeen Angus livestock tasted fantastic.

Although the direct area is rural and very quiet, many activities are only a short drive away. We visited several castles, Stonehaven by the sea, Aberdeen and several spots in the Cairngorms. But a day "at home" is not punishment. We particularly enjoyed the sound of the Lumphanan burn, which flows directly past the wooden terrace, while enjoying a drink in the sun.

The pricing of the cottages is very good. For more money you can get a lot less. We've seen other less spacious or equipped cottages, caravans or even tents for more money, making Perkhill great value for money.

We would recommend Perkhill to anyone wanting to visit the Royal Deeside, Aberdeen or Cairngorms area.

My husband has to go to Aberdeen frequently and more so of late as the company have just opened an office there. Up until now he has flown back and forth staying in hotels. This time he wanted to take me for a week so I set about looking for a cottage that we could stay in.
As I was looking for July nearly everywhere was completely booked however I was given a week in August by the owner of Macbeth's Retreat - this was wonderful news as this was our first choice. My husband went ahead and visited Aberdeen in July for meetings he couldn't postpone and at the same time arranged certain things for the week of August.
Now, to the salient point MACBETH'S RETREAT, this place is 'above' luxury and the owner Pippa is quite delightful. It is brand new with very efficient underfloor heating, beds so comfy, kitchen has everything you could possibly want. Two splendid bathrooms and bedrooms, large diner off kitchen and a separate circular lounge with wood burning stove, leather sofa's etc - furnishings tastefully done.
We have travelled abroad a lot and have stayed in UK from time to time. We have condo's in States which are always way above any UK standard, however, Macbeth's Retreat is up there, as 5 star accommodation.
I should also mention private car parking and the decking that surrounds the accommodation, French windows opening to a modern black and chrome table and chairs. All around are views of fields and hills, simply the greatest resting place you could want.
Not everybody will want WiFi butit was important to us and it works fantastically, no problems with my Apple Smartphone either.
Pippa is delightful and it was so nice to meet her.

Room Tip: Everything is wonderful. Each room is good.

August 5th 2012. We have just returned from a holiday in this most amazing cottage that sits high up on a hillside and has the most amazing views over Aberdeenshire. The interior is very spacious, clean and very attractive. The beds incredibly comfortable and each bedroom has its own beautiful en suite bathroom. The under floor heating kept us very cosy and wood burning stove was also available should we need it. We were very happy with the well equipped kitchen and the patio doors in the lounge area opened onto a paved patio, that also over looked the wonderful view. Apart from the two other cottages the only neighbours are the cattle and the deer that roam the surrounding fields and hills. Perfect peace.
The cottage owners,Pippa and Alex and their famly were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and it was a pleasure to meet them. This cottage, whilst being suitable for a young family, would
also be suitable for an elderly or disabled person due to one bedroom and bathroom being on the ground floor and there being no steps into the building.
The only problem for us was that we only had one week there. It was a sad day when we had to leave and we just cannot wait until we can go back again. We would recommend it to anyone who needs to recharge their batteries. Pete, Anne and family

Room Tip: We all slept so well and loved our rooms so much that there was nothing to choose between them.

My husband and I and our 15yr old daughter ( who was delighted to find wi-fi and mobile reception) have just returned from a most enjoyable and comfortable stay in this beautifully renovated and well equiped steading conversion. As previously said , the beds are very comfortable and it is a lovely warm house-and the heating is easily controlled by thermostat. The area around the farm is rural, very quiet and the scenery is stunning.Saying that, there are many attractions, walks, cycle routes etc within 30mins drive.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful and the "welcome pack" was excellent. We hope to return to Perkhill again, in the Winter next time. Mo C.
