Quite an imposing and older style hotel. We dropped in on spec as we were touring the area. The price was fair and almost cheap compared to Aberdeen's mid-week prices. We received an upgrade to a suite which had a large bedroom room and smaller lounge.

The bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in, even compared to my own at home !

Continental and Full Breakfast was included in the price. Only negative was the tables being dressed for lunch/dinner while we ate breakfast.

We would certainly stay again

Stayed recently for DBB. The room was spacious with comfortable bed and seating area, but with the smallest tv on the wall that wasn't fitting with the room size. Tea and coffee making facilities but cheap sachets. Bathroom lovely and clean and massive but they could make more of the space with a roll top bath or similar. The biggest let down was no hot water the following morning so couldn't shower. Did mention to staff but it was brushed off, saying there was a problem with a boiler, so this was a massive let down and it could have been compensated. On the plus side the food is delicious and the staff polite and friendly. Could be excellent but a few small things let it down.

My partner booked this as a little overnight stay away and I have to say we had a really pleasant experience. The staff were friendly, could have been a little more attentive in the restaurant however that is nit-picking. We decided in the evening to go for the set menu in the dining room which I have to say is worth every penny and was extremely tasty..the haddock and leek tart was delicious that I had to start followed by the fillet of steak, the dessert was to die for and if I could have fitted in another couple I would of! yum - we were very happy.
The bedroom was comfortable and the bed itself comfy, the only thing and again this is an area for improvement would be the en-suites which could do with a little refurbishment and modernizing. Overall great stay and great food!

Stayed for 3 nights over Christmas. Got a gorgeous room with a wee sitting room. So clean and beautifully decorated. We had 2 evening meals which were lovely and the breakfasts were great. Every member of staff was friendly without being over bearing. A credit to the lovely north east.

Stayed here one night on a weekday in March. This is an old country house that has been refurbished into a (quite fancy) hotel. We had a room on the top floor and it was big and comfortable. The bathroom was small, though, and the shower was a challenge (from antarctic temperatures to sahara in just a tenth of an inch turn of the knob). The location of this hotel is basically in a forest area with not much population around it, so at night it becomes absolutely pitch dark outside, which makes for quite a deep sleep. In the morning we were all startled by a fire alarm that went off, that was a little off-putting. Our room fee included dinner in the restaurant downstairs, which for me was the highlight of our stay. Absolutely lovely food, well cooked, high end quality as well. The lounge was comfortable and made for a nice reading place while enjoying a drink. The breakfast was also very tasty (tip: eggs Benedict). Overall we had a good time here, maybe a bit on the expensive side, but I have to say it was worth it. Another tip: Plenty of nice castles around this area to visit.

Room Tip: As this is an old (mostly wooden) house, a top floor room would be advisable to limit creaking sound...

Stayed here on the 15th February and it was excellent. Our room was spacious, very warm and super clean. We received a bottle of chilled Prosecco as soon as we arrived and enjoyed a 6 course meal at night. All the food was delicious and we were served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great choice at breakfast time too and can't wait to stay again. Thank you for a relaxing break.
