My husband and I stayed here in July 2011. What A FIND. Old style hotel, bedrooms absolutely fabulous, decorated with old style furniture and four poster beds.Over looking the river with beautiful views and walks all round. An ideal place to relax. Food in resteraunt was also fabulous. Lovely place to stay.

My cousin and I were looking for an escape for a brief break and chose the Banchory Lodge. We couldnt have been happier, the setting is beautiful and as in the previous review we staying in room 23, with a fab outlook and stone patio outside the double doors to the room, which was huge.

Yes, the hotel is a little tired in places, but has bags of character, is clean and the beds were so comfy.

We had a wander up to town with the intention of eating out, but after looking around decided to go back to the hotel where we had the most delicious meal which was extremely reasonable and were sat by the window overlooking the river.

The best part of the hotel is Susan on reception, who always seems to be there. She cannot be more polite, cheery and helpful and is a real asset to the hotel.

We will definitely be back.

A beautiful lodge in the banks of the River Dee. The grounds are beautifully kept, the interior tastefully decorated with antiques. Staff attentive, and charming. Our dinner lasted nearly 4 hours. We relaxed in the lounge while our meal was prepared, & watched salmon jumping in the river Dee during dinner. The choices were varied....5 of us had different meals, & all were superb. The prices were reasonable for the choices. Beautiful china, linen & flowers & superb service. We enjoyed all 4 courses ( good portion sizes too), & retired to the lounge after for coffee & tea.
Highly recommended....even for dinner if staying elsewhere in Aberdeen

The Banchory, in a lovely setting on the shore of the river Dee, could not be better. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the service is friendly. Not to be missed is at least one meal, either in the dining room or in the room adjacent to the bar. The food is simple, and deliciously prepared. The accommodations are reasonably priced. If ever I am in the Banchory area, I will look forward to staying again at the Banchory Lodge.

An excellent hotel with attentive and endearing staff. The rooms were very individually decorated and well serviced. Whatever room you get you won't be disappointed. The staff were very caring and attentive at all times. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and well presented. The outlook from our room was second to none (Room 23). The situation of the hotel couldn't be better. You think you are in the countryside not in a town. We will be back for a second visit.

Room Tip: You'll be satisfied with whatever room you get.

Wonderful place to sit and have z drink. Bar food/snack food is excellent, however the restaurant food could be better for the price. A lovely location to sit on a summers evening and their afternoon tea and scones are amazing! Friendly staff who are always pleased to see you and who make you feel very welcome on every visit. The hotel is in need of a refurb but we love it all the same!!

We held our wedding dinner and reception at Banchory Lodge hotel in July 2010. The location of this hotel, on the banks of the river Dee, surrounded by mature trees, is absolutely stunning. We had a lovely, sunny weekend which allowed us to make the most of it. The main dining room has large windows looking out over the river, as do 2 of the lounges. The furnishings are a country-house style - very charming, antique-ish and individual. The honeymoon suite is huge and has beautiful views over the river. Perfect for getting ready on the big day. Susan at the hotel was brilliant as our wedding organiser and facilitated a wonderful weekend, considering all the details that didn't even occur to us and ensuring the celebrations were incredibly memorable and ran smoothly and effortlessly (on our part!). The food for all our meals was great - we had a delicious wedding dinner and an evening buffet, both of which went down very well with us and our guests. The night before our wedding, we had a large family dinner which Susan arranged for us in one of the residents' lounges at a huge table which was really special. Banchory Lodge was very accommodating and keen to help us with all the personal touches for our day, including laying out all our wedding cakes (homemade), favours, table names etc. The hotel also provided flowers for all the tables and throughout the hotel. Overall, this was a stunning place to hold our celebrations and represented good value too. Highly recommended. We've been back again for a few overnight stays and dinner and have been charmed every time. In winter, there is a roaring log fire in the main lounge, which is perfect after walking along by the river.
