We absolutely loved staying at Higher Dewey. The cottage is really charming and in a beautiful location. You are overlooking pure countryside. It is fantastically peaceful, even a fox came visiting the property on the first night. The rooms are all lovingly decorated and there is a lot of the owner's artwork on the walls. This makes for an interesting exploration inside the house. The garden is really nice as well and there are chairs and a table to have a seat and enjoy the views. We especially enjoyed the Highland cows in the fields surrounding the property.
As for the location in general it is perfectly located to explore Cornwall. The cottage is pretty much in the middle and allows you to visit all the main attractions in under an hour.
We loved it and will definitely be coming back!
Stayed here for a week with my dog. Really pretty garden which is shared with the main house (the owner of cottage). Views over moor are beautiful. Cottage is small, old fashioned, cluttered with odd furniture (this too me is cosy!) and it felt like home. Kitchen is new compared to the rest of the cottage, ideal size and well equip. Bathroom is slightly dated and has no shower. The double bed in main room is amazing, so comfy, loads of extra clean bedding. Wifi is available but very poor (to be expected to be honest). Loads of walks right here, two small villages fairly local. Right next to A30, really easy access to the whole of Cornwall; I visited Tintagle, Falmouth, Penzance, Lansend, Newquay all as day trips from the cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Higher Dewey is every bit as lovely as the fotos imply. The cottage is situated next to the main house (where Julia lives) and surrounded by a beautiful garden. Julia is great, she welcomed us with milk and biscuits! She did a fantastic job refurbishing the cottage - it's so cozy! We felt right at home. Stepping out the door (and from the windows) you have a fantastic view over the quiet green hills of Bodmin Moor. We loved the rabbits everywhere, but Julia said they eat her flowers, so I guess you can't have everything. ;-)
