We have just come home from a two night stay in cornwall. We found the westberry hotel deal online with bookings.com.As soon as we arrived we found plenty of free parking at the rear of the hotel, at reception a young girl confirmed our details for our stay and gave a short but very detailed tour of the rooms where we would have breakfast or order a evening meal.We didnt know her name but she was very helpful during our stay. Our room was basic but spotless. The only problem i would say we have was the mattress which was making the loudest noises as the spings seemed to creaking if you went any where near it.The breakfast was excellent and on the one evening we had a meal in the restaurant. Choice was great and the food was presented in a superb way . the young girl from reception was working in the restaurant that evening and again gave fantastic service. The hotel had people there of all ages and was a great all round stay.

Room Tip: not number 16 for squeaky mattress

Stayed here on a fair few occasions, every time as good as the last. It's in a great central location 2 minutes walk from the town centre.

The rooms are always clean and tidy and spacious
Food in the restaurant is very tasty and well priced
Sky sports in the room
Prices are very reasonable

Look forward to staying again

Having lived in Bodmin many, many years ago, this hotel used to be a bit of a dump. We took our courage in both hands and trusted the hotel's website , which showed the property off to its very best , we went ahead with the booking for a couple of nights. It was obvious upon our arrival that the present owners have invested a lot of cash and hard work into the premises.
The staff are excellent, especially the waitress on breakfast duty. The breakfast itself was perfectly good enough. We did not have dinner there as the prices were not acceptable .
The room was clean and comfortable and the dining room was laid out nicely and welcoming. But somehow the whole place generally comes across as being a hotch potch of decor. Its just not quite sure which era its in. Great shame, as that was our lasting impression we came away with.

Whilst the bedroom accommodation may be dated, the staff have ALL been excellent and the food Stunning! I have only stayed for two days but I feel as though I will be returning home a few pounds heavier. A great atmosphere and despite having stayed in more 4 and 5 star hotels than I can possibly remember, this 2 Star hotel did a great job. I will certainly stay again the next time I am visiting Bodmin.

Stayed here on business and have no complaints. Efficient service, Room clean and comfortable. Free wireless in room worked flawlessly....I've never been able to say that about ANY UK hotel I've stayed in ie free and flawless. Restaurant was a level above what you'd expect for a hotel in terms of service, food and ambience, certainly in this part of the UK. Thai tood is Thai inspired rather than authentic but none the worse for it. I would come and eat even if I wasn't resident and would stay here on a leisure break.

Went with friends for dinner to their Steak and Thai (?) . Sadly the proprietor was rude and unfriendly. I asked for a jug of water as she brought the wine and she told me she only had one pair of hands!
The food was poor. I had crispy fried sea bass with tiger prawns on a chow mein. The noodles were greasy and cold, very cold; the only vegetables were one pice of pak choy and 4 mange tout, cold; the prawns were just deep fried, hard right through and tastless; the small pieces of sea bass were quite nice but not seasoned at all.
The serving staff were great, however.
This may be Bodmin's answer to 'fine dining', as their advertising would have one believe, but, with the backdrop of the busy main road on one side and council flats on the other together with the serenade of police cars, ambulances and fire engines( in fact a typical Friday night in Bodmin) I would suggest that it would not be described in that way by many.
