We stayed here for 5 days with our LO (2 year old) who loved it. With so many child friendly activities onsite, we never had to worry about getting bored. In fact, it was a shame we didn't have a few extra days to spend here as it was also a good base for travelling to nearby attractions. Our LO loved the ride on area and soft play room, and he also really enjoyed feeding the animals; although he was a bit apprehensive at first, Shirley and Steve (the owners) encouraged him to feel confortable and safe around the animals.
The cottage was cosy, warm and clean. The size was just about right for our family of three, with the bedroom big enough to include a cot, which they provided along with other child amenities. The only downside was the lack of sockets, but we were able to cope with those that were available.
The grounds were lovely and well maintained, and Shirley and Steve were extremely friendly and welcoming. We felt safe and relaxed during our entire stay and would definitely consider going back.
We'd highly recommend it to those with young kids.

Just returned home after a fantastic week at Glynn Barton. It was our first time staying there with our 4 month old and I can honestly say it was fantastic. We arrived to a warm welcome from Shirley and Steve, and quickly felt at home in our lovely little cottage. Everything was catered for; from providing a travel cot, high chair and steriliser to freezers full of frozen meals to purchase if you are to busy enjoying yourself to cook! The children are really well catered for - with fantastic indoor and outdoor play areas and a fantastic pool, but the highlight was definitely the animals. I thought the baby would be too young to appreciate the morning feeding of the animals and collecting eggs, but Shirley and Steve really included him, and he seemed to love it (but not as much as his mummy!) We are already looking at booking again for next year.
We are just on route back to Birmingham after spending a week in the Tack room at Glynn Barton and I can honestly say I feel relaxed for the first time in ages.
We arrived in the Friday and were greeted by the very warm and welcoming Cheryl who informed us that our key was in the door and ready to go so whilst one of us unpacked the other went with our 2 year old who immediately joined the other toddlers exploring the place. It has everything! A Huge outdoor castle/ playground, a 2 story wooden play house with dinosaurs, a maze, animals, a playroom with lots of toys, a trampoline, an outdoor car play area, a soft play area, an indoor pool and all within secure grounds and easy to get to. Max loved it! The pool is open 9-7 so is slightly restricted but if you're an early riser like us, the other facilities were available pretty 24/7 and they are always clean and tidy.
The cottage.
Our cottage was a 1 bedroom cottage but had ample room for my partner and I and a toddler. I would say the bed was a bit small but if it was any bigger we wouldn't have fitted the travel cot in. Linen was of high quality and the cottage was immaculate. They also offer a maid service in a Tues for a bit of extra help.
We were going to order some food online to arrive when we got there but we found that it was just as convenient to go to morrisons or Asda as they were 15 mins drive away. Not only that, but we were informed upon arrival that they have a selection of organic ready meals in their honesty shop where you just help yourself and then pay at the end. Selection included Shepard's pie, fish pie for the little one and a chicken pie which we loved. Really tasty for ready meals and took the pressure of us to worry too much of we didn't do a big shop that evening or wanted something quick. They also have a selection of toiletries, biscuits and Ice Cream.
As there are only 6 or 7 cottages it is very intimate but we found that most people were parents with little ones of a similar age to Our one or with babies so everyone was very understanding and tolerant of tantrums, late night crying and so on.during the day most families would be out and about so it was very peaceful with gorgeous surroundings for us.
It's very tailored around children so you really don't need to take anything. Child friendly plates, high chairs, toys, CBeebies, nappy changer, buckets and spades for the beach, wellies - everything is provided so you barely need to take anything with you.
Steve and Shirley also do animal feeding Mon - Fri morning with the little ones. My son loved the knock knock game where the kids knocked on the chicken coup door to find the eggs!
We loved this holiday and would definitely come again- the only down side for us is that it was around 30 mins to most of the attractions we wanted to go to and may stay nearer the beach next time - but whenever we just want to relax and kick back a bit - we shall certainly be coming here. Thanks Shirley and Steve. You have a gorgeous place here. Love Leasa, Phil and Max xxxx
We have been enjoying a week at Glynn Barton for at least thirteen years - how do we reckon that? Our first trip was with our son and his family of then two little girls, the youngest then was about two - she has just had her fifteenth birthday.
Why do we like it so much that we keep returning even when Brittany Ferries have to cancel crossings because of storms? We just feel it is 'our' little cottage in Cornwall - this time we arrived just before dark, but the cottage was warm and welcoming. We know where everything is, except this time we had two beautiful new carpets in the living room and the bedroom - thank you Shirley and Steve for spoiling us.
All being well, this year we shall have two stays at Glynn Barton, except next time we are bringing more of our family and shall need a bigger cottage, but we know and have stayed in all the cottages, except for one, which was the last to be renovated, by which time we had got used to our dear Tackroom.
Quiet, beautiful countryside, and for us, lots of family to visit in Cornwall. Why don't you try it?
